Hi Wray - I've now almost completed watching every video you've done and your methods are helping me a lot! I bought a Honda S800 coupe shell and chassis, the entire front clip and doors were missing - rockers gone and foot-wells rusted out. I bought an english wheel from Hare & Forbes (I'm in Australia) - something comparable to your Harbor Freight in quality and design, and am using your wireform technique to now tackle recreation of the front fenders. Your videos are excellent an your techniques perfect as I'm in that "2-car garage" category of home resto. Thankyou so much for sharing your skill and techniques with the world - you've already taught me to persevere when I think the panel is a bin-job mess. Metal is clay! Thankyou Wray - love your work and keep them coming! - PS: long videos NEVER a problem for your true audience - if you can't watch a 40 min video, then i suspect you don't have the patience required for this type of work. Stay safe Wray, and thankyou! 👍🏻

Never in a million years will I ever use this technique to shape metal sheet but watching this done is super interesting, the skill needed to develop a piece is awe inspiring, little by little practice gives a highly skilled art. Many thanks for that, it is priceless!

Are you sure you are going to hold out for a million years? It is a lot of fun to make something from nothing.

MAJIC! You mention in one of these that you are, in the end imparting the same amount of energy over a couple of hours as a stamping press would put in in a second and a half. This is a very astute observation that not a lot of people would intuitively know or even believe, but, if one understands the physics, it makes perfect sense. I don't know how long you have been doing the video thing (you mention teaching), but you have a very excellent camera presence. Your video's are informative, interesting and easy to watch. Thank you for doing the work to make and posting them. PS. If you ever have an occasion to do a little work on an Airstream there are plenty of us who would eagerly watch them.

Definitely looking forward to the mig/tig comparison. I have wanted to learn to weld but working full time I havent found a class locally that isnt a certificate program at a community college.

Excellent! It will be interesting to see the Mig vs Tig comparering it with my own past experiences. I really like to use my Miller Dynasty 350 on things like this turned up to 400hz which really narrows the arc width and focuses the HAZ vs my Miller Diversion or Lincoln running at the hz we get through the power line. Edit, let me clarify for the newbies out there, when I mention 400hz we're welding on AC.

Hi Wray, I think I have watched each of your videos at least twice. My current restoration does not require a lot of complicated metal shaping, unfortunately. However, my upcoming project has, as I am planning to create the front fenders. As these fenders have a 'flanged' wheel arch, so not flat or wire-edged, I am wondering how to create such a shape. Maybe an idea for an upcoming video. Thanks for sharing your skill and talent, and to teach and inspire us. One day I will fly over the Atlantic to attend a few classes. Best regards, Erik

Hi Erik, I will keep the fender flare question in mind. The Porsche 550 has small flares I will get to them when I make that section of the fender.

Great stuff Wray. Yes, l came to the same conclusion as yourself sometime back. But we all make decisions that come to haunt us ! And as l don't have an English wheel , nor the room, lt would always have been sand bag and hammers! But it's lovely to see how it can be done. Look forward to the welding as l definitely want to see the comparisons (l may well be in the market for a cheap TIG welder. ) Thanks Wray.

I always dreamed of having a car with metal so perfect you could blue it like a gun. Now there is paint to mimic that perfectly!

I just bought a door to a 356 pre A Porsche for a VERY good price. It's rusted like crazy, but not so much that I won't be able to replicate it in new metal.......

Have you ever met Covell? If so, what was he like and would you ever do a collab?

Hi Bob, I personally don't travel much, Ron does, he has stopped in to see me several times. Right before Covid hit I suggested that we do a class together. He liked the idea but then Covid hit and nothing happened. Still might. I have a picture of Ron at my shop in 2019 on my website. www.proshaper.com
