YES. PLEASE DO THIS MORE. I'll be honest, never heard Sleep Token before, but I just LOVE the whole concept of Drumeo, taking a song you don't know and listening to the music and then working out how you'd introduce the part you do; in their case, drums, in yours, vocals.
@KainYusanagi7 күн бұрын
Also, fucking love your vocal arrangement still, even if you prefer his, yours is great!
@KainYusanagi7 күн бұрын
Also also, don't downplay your ear for music so much; the way the backing music goes is a huge tell for vocals, and you keyed in on that as you were going.

That was a cool, man. And Vessel definitely has a love for 90s R&B because his vocal delivery and runs are so similar to what you'd hear in R&B songs from that era. I always think of Sleep Token as R&B metal because they love to blend both styles together.

I find myself describing these guys as "Dark R&B", they're not specifically a Metal band, per se, but they're fluent in its language and putting it towards a different purpose that I find myself vibing with even though I don't typically enjoy R&B in its own right.

@FacelessMage1177 күн бұрын
Same, I have always loved a variety of music, and Sleep Token is such an amazing shift from the typical metal band. I have always loved genre-blended metal. Static X has long been a favorite, and for several years Trivium was my favorite, but I love stuff like Celldweller, Scandroid(if you don't know is Klayton from Celldweller, but synthwave) and so so many others. 12 ft Ninja in many ways reminds of Sleep Token, but obviously in sillier and less self-serious way. But for the last year or two, Sleep Token has been my favorite, almost everything they release is as an absolute vibe.

Love this. Agree that they have a bit of a ‘formula’ to their songs, and (without being a music player myself) I feel like they give enough rhythm clues to figure out where the spaces are. My favourite breakdown/drop of theirs is in Hypnosis. Even after listening to it ad nauseam, it still takes my brain a second to find the 4/4 beat because the rests are so irregular. 😜 *What* they do isn’t that technical or niche. It’s *how* they do it - using the full sound spectrum, and Vessel’s lyrical genius - that makes them so addictive.
