I cannot explain how many save states were needed to make this possible. This is a very special video for my Metal Slug fan base (all 5 of you out there, hahaha!) I hope you can enjoy this SUPER play of all the stages in the game and appreciate the hard work put into the music and the editing!

I hope you guys can appreciate the huge effort put into this project, and the ones that are coming after. Remember that Metal Slug 1, 2 and X still have Remasters left...

I think the Anthology version has the OST separated from the game, so modding it there shouldn’t be too hard 😃

I wish we had a version with toggle-able music. Anthology seems to be the one that we can mod, but idk how to do that ☹️

@rattiesteps1987 No. it was edited. But I know it is possible because I was able to extract the files from the game. If I knew how to replace the files, I could probably get it working on the Wii, Xbox & PS2 versions!

The outros for all of the tracks was a lovely touch from your part, honestly it adds climax to certain moments in the playthrough (such remarks I can make of that happening are the last mission's explosive mecha spiders and the escape, truly a delightful experience which adds a whole lot more dread to the situation.) I'm amazed by your talent mate. Great work!

I've always prefer when soundtracks provide endings to their songs. It adds a more "official" feel to them, than just fading out after a loop. I've often found that some tracks in video game files have original endings, but the official releases have fade outs. Which is a very weird artistic decision by the composers.

@@trexx45 I whole heartedly agree, having a fade out for a track just doesn't sit right as it just kills the whole vibe (not necessarily). Once again, I appreciate the fact of track having an ending that gives a sense of a glorious and resounding victory (such as Final Attack) or the aforementioned mecha spiders area (First Contact) giving an ending that alludes to a bigger menace just right above you. YET AGAIN and I can't stress this enough, these are some great mixes even if they're a year old, which by itself is not that much of a time gap.

Let’s hope so. I honestly thought my other gameplays would do better, but let’s hope this is the one! Also, thank you for appreciating the gameplay on this one. It took so many tries to get the transitions between stages right.

That is the point of my projects. To make them bring back nostalgic memories, but at the same time be innovative. I am glad you like my renditions of this masterpiece of a soundtrack 😄

I played the game just last night lol. This has been my one of my childhood games and I still love it. I’ve played every Metal Slug and I can say that this one is the best one. It’s just too good. And with your themes it just sounds a lot better. Okay oh should really make more remakes of Metal Slug themes like the Metal Slug 4 “Secret Place” theme. Anyways I’m really impressed at the project. This channel is so underrated.

I had an issue when replaying the last level, and had to replay the whole game and re-record up until that point. So that's probably the issue haha

I am SO HAPPY someone finally decided to take the time to revisit the old metal slug soundtrack in a way that's FAITHFUL to the original source material. I was hungry for more metal slug music after listening to the smash bros interpretation, and I got tired of hearing the same old overdone techno / heavy rock remixes. (You know the one, the one where the distortion is cranked up to max and there's no care taken for the overall mix in general. It sounds like a mess.) And I speak on behalf of everyone when I say "FINALLY, A GOOD REMIX OF THE ASSAULT THEME!" Thank you for taking the time to make this. I'm looking forward to hearing what you come up with next :)

These first versions also kinda lacked a few instruments that I REALLY wanted to use. In my Patreon I have the up-to-date versions with synths that are even more faithful! As for new music, I am finishing the saga of The House of the Dead 1-3. I've essentially finished HOD1&2, but I am still missing bonus tracks that are not in-game. And since I put so much care into my music, I want to go overboard in a good way

@@trexx45 solo digo primero intentaré hacerlo con el metal slug 3 de ps1 y extraer el juego y cambiar las canciones originales por las suyas en el mismo formato y volver a convertir el juego en su formato original

The originals are timeless. But I always wished for someone to remix them with modern instruments. Maybe one day SNK will make a proper remake with HQ OST

This is an AMAZING project!! This is coming from a Metal Slug fan and composer (I mess around with Metal Slug's sound chip sometimes as a hobby). I will give you an advice and use the original ADPCM B (lead channel of the Metal Slug soundchip) instead of the soundfont. Other than that, splendid job!

I could use some help on how to use the sound fonts. Most of the OG synths that I used came from the original game's sound test. Although, I've been doing some research on where each sound comes from. Since the composers used different Roland and Korg synths from the late 90s

this is a cool idea, but the 16:9 ruins these arcade games. also, longplays are just homemade TAS. Try playing games with 1 coin next time. remixes sounds great tho

I'm very glad you like my music! Though, I prefer 16:9. It's my personal preference. But you should also know that editing the video and playing all of the paths in the game will obviously require more than one coin, due to RNG. The amount of tries you're asking for a One Coin Clear is just plain torture for a simple music concept showcase hahaha. This was not a TAS, but it was definitely replayed to death to make the perfect game. You can see that I used a different playthrough by the end with Fio. One of my takes was corrupted, so I had to replay the whole game and try and match my score.
