literally Chrono Trigger and the first Final Fantasy Tactis are the only TWO GAMES I'd pay full price for just a fucking port with better performance, not even a remake or HD 2.5 version or anything, hell, just give me a fucking port with better framerate and some added art gallery and that's it, I'd buy them and so would A LOT of people. Square Enix complains they have no money but also spend huge budgets on shit noone asks them for yet ignore some things people DO ask them for, like Chrono Trigger, FF Tactics, Xenogears, Parasite Eve and Vagrant Story.

FF Tactics Advance is what made me fall in love with tactical RPGs as a kid. Can't wait to check this out as I loved the old run-n-gun Metal Slug games, this is a match made in heaven for me!

The two systems that really make this game are the dodge/adrenaline system, and the sync attack system. Those were incredible ideas from the game designer and do an amazing job keeping the action moving at a breakneck pace.

yeah when I first started playing I immediately defaulted to a defensive playstyle as I do with many of the other strategy games I play. I soon found out that doesn’t work 😅.

​@JungleOfMeat Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. To be honest the Switch version suffers from quite a bit overall. Too many animations and overlays running at the same time are equating to a lot of frame drops. The text is way to small. And the controls are clunky as hell. The gameplay is very good and the roguelite/strategic elements are top notch but the polish is just atrocious.

Gameplay-wise by far one of favorite turn based strategy games. Only thing holding it back is some polish relating to bugs and ui. Also unless you have a pc it has difficulty running smoothly and the audio often comes delayed

It's not too bad though 6/10 with half assed save system. If you don't beat every mission in chapter it won't save. So far I've repeated 2nd area three times. Even tacticals on my 20yr old GBA save missions.

​@@ferdinandavila-soto7233I agree... Going into this game performance was the last thing on my mind and boy was it apparent from the moment Mission Start flashed on my screen. I get I'm playing on the Switch which is 8 year old hardware but the developers literally decided to fill this game with a ton of unnecessary animations which are bogging down the frame rate to what I'm assuming is sub 20fps at times. There's no need for a bullet direction animation and a glass sheen animation to run simultaneously while 12 sprites are animating and the Boss Mordens mech is animating while hot lava is animating. ITS FUCKING OVERKILL. Not only are there huge frame issues but there are also audio delays, mix that with the microscopic text and clunky controls and you have a very unpolished game that should have never been released on the Switch in it's current state. I sure hope they can rectify these things as the gameplay is definitely superb albeit a bit unbalanced. I think my main concern after playing one run is how quick and easy it was to get to Morden which I'm assuming was tge final boss for a run. I managed to beat the first phase but lost on the second part because I was still figuring strategies and moves out. The structure seems a bit odd not to have the player clear each destination on the map ultimately ending in a boss at the end of the area. I made it to Morden after like 5 or 6 missions.

I adore the Metal Slug series but I have never been into tactics games. Only one I have ever liked was Advance Wars but I couldn't complete it. Unsure if I could get into this.

If you have Xbox it’s on gamepass but if not then I don’t recommend it if you don’t like tactics game. Rn the game is pretty buggy and unoptimized and I’ve had numerous encounters with audio delay and a few game breaking bugs

@@tonymcnamee2741 yeah being confused is one of the biggest turn offs for many people with turn based strategy. It’s especially challenging with tactics as you will likely encounter the many stated bugs before you eventually understand the gameplay
