I honestly bounced off this game the first time I played it. I decided to give it another try, and this video helped me understand some of the strategic depth a bit more. I'm having so much more fun now. It's really a great game. It also makes me want to go back and play the old side scrollers.

Same, I rage quit and deleted. I was expecting FF Tactics/Disgaea and found the game mechanics incredibly confusing. That coupled with having to start ALL OVER AGAIN if you get wiped out made me feel like I had just thrown 25 bucks away. I redownloaded it and am going to give it another shot but we'll see. Still feel like I don't fully grasp how to play this

Thank you for the tips. It helped me so much! Greetings from Brazil I had a lot of difficult playing it for the 1st time yesterday. The only tactical rpg i played was digimon survive, which was too easy, even playing on the hardest mode. Now on metal slug i can’t even reach the 5th phase! This is good, hard power is not enough so it forces me to think and create smart strategies. I’m loving this game!

If i had to pick a tip that wasn't mentioned: use Mummy to your advantage! I used the unique mummy attacks to shred through distant enemies and bosses. It was helpful!

That's a good one. It was a major surprise to me when mummy attacks just dealt like 3x the damage of normal attacks lol

Love the vid very informative. The only thing I could say that would be nice to change in the future would be some video representation of some of the tips that you’re talking about. @ he’s not demonstrating any examples though it’s just gameplay I was more so just saying as a frame of reference for like video quality it’s pretty mindless that some creators just think they can put gameplay behind it and not actually put effort into making a better quality tips and tricks video. It’s one thing to not have an example for some of the niche stuff he talks about but some of the basics like come on he could easily hop into a game and show us what he’s talking about but he doesn’t. He just wanted to get the video out as fast as possible du to the game just coming out, and it shows.

@@TitaniumLegman You didn't tho? Go to any of the tips and what your saying has no relation to what's going on in the game play. You just pushed record and then talk. For Ex: Moving a downed ally before revive. Not a single frame of it happing! Ex2: Sync DMG bonuses. YOU don't even show a run were you took the feat at all the damage done in the clip was raw none upgraded Sync damage and there were 2 Sync attacks in that section! both just raw damage. Ex3: Maxed out Skills. again you don't even show a max skill on screen aaaa but hey I don't seem to know what I'm talking about. For a guy named TitaniumLegman you don't seem to put much leg work in your vids..

It's definitely different and unintuitive but I find it to be one of several things about this game that helps it to stand out amongst the myriad of tactics games.

Unintuitive? On a metal slug you can only shoot on a cross shape directions so making it so they cant shoot at something that will be on those blind spots (x shape) comes from that

Some other tips i found really helpful: 1. When moving, every time you jump a space/elevation, you gain extra dodge and adrenaline, this is how you can end up getting 4 dodge, which makes you almost invulnerable. 2. Highlight enemies to see their movement and attack range. Use this to prioritize enemies based on who is an immediate threat. Very helpful in protection missions. 3. Adding on to #2, when looking at movement, they can be blocked on elevation change tiles, preventing them from jumping up to get in attack range. 4. Bosses and vehicles have sync protection, meaning once they have been synced against once, they are immune. Dont waste any more sync attempts!

Nadia can cheating the coin and become max level in the first area with P.O.W I think this is a bug but it was so cool because I can buy all the gun upgrades after getting 500 coin then direct jump to final box with Level Max Nadia.

Once you're in a stage, you're in it. You can go back to the main menu or save and quit, but that's it.

Awesome vid thanks for the tips! One question though. How exactly do you unlock clark? I’m a bit confused by the description. ‘Win a run having completed 3 regions’ ? Do I forfeit once I beat the 3rd boss? Please elaborate if possible.

No problem! Clear the required number of regions, then go to Scirocco city and beat the final boss. Done!

You unlock him by clearing 2 areas then going to the final boss and complete the run.

It's indeed a puzzle roguelike with no persistent RPG progress other than unlockable options, which sort of makes the name quite misleading in comparison to FF Tactics and Tactics Ogre.

My biggest problem is that the game chugs on my PS5 when it comes to my first boss fight when it went on too long. Huge minute long load times between actions. It was my first encounter, so I was still learning the fight, but yeessh, I 'm waiting for a patch (Unless my situation was a one-off?)

am I the only one who's revive function just stopped working? It was working fine until a few days ago, now I just press A and the RT won't show up to revive despite having full radios. I have to reboot the game 10+ times for it to work again and then it works once and stops working again. Same for the map, sometimes A stops working on maps, but that one usually goes away with 1 reboot. It's getting very annoying.

Just have to say: Main characters being so tanky feels weird. Sometimes tanking 10 hits per map and then reviving is ridiculous. True metal slug experience is 0 hit run. The tankiest characters in any tactical strategy game. What irony.
