The mid-air gravity switch jump! Honorable mention to that boss composed of several cubes that go around the border of the screen.

Hi, thank you for your excellent classic console game series, I enjoy your video's on a regular basis. Metalstorm is an excellent game, that I have enjoyed for years, unfortunately as I've played well over 100 Nes games seriously, it's one of those games where the history of it blurs for me, and I can't remember if I first played it 30 years ago or maybe 5 years ago, lol. It is excellent and unique though, if you combined Mega Man and Guardian Legend you might get Metal Storm.

This ended up becoming the most rare and most valuable game I owned as a kid. I really love this one. Unlike many many other NES games where I never got very far I never found this one super difficult and I beat it many times, although the stage where you're inside a moving box was challenging. I think the excellent music and gravity mechanic kept me hooked so I stuck with it.

Yeah, this had some of those ridiculously tough moments NES games are notorious for. I can't imagine beating it on the hardest difficulty!

A six pack of Surge, and the belief that we would colonize the solar system by 2050. Man, I miss those days.

I had this game as a kid but the label on my cart had been ripped off and I could not remember the title screen, only what the first level looked like. I wondered what it was called for years and finally one day I went through every nes game on a site that had screenshots until I came across it to learn what the name was.

I loves this game. Never owned it. I rented it a lot and played it every time I went to my friend’s house, even well into our high school years

I bought the collector’s edition and love it. It’s the Japanese version complete with a white colored mech instead of the puce one. It’s a real treat. The animation is unbelievably great!

Gonna have to see if there's a ROM hack to turn off the background scroll - makes me nauseous. 10-year-old me would've loved it. 384-year-old me...not so much.

It kinda blows my mind how good Metal Storm looks for an NES game, the sprites look remarkably well-detailed for the limitations of the system, and the stages have a lot of character, even if the color palette leaves something to be desired.

worth mentioning, panzer paladin, a newer indie game inspired by metal storm and a bit of blaster master. Ironically I only found out about metal storm due to the indie game.

This is the game that turned me from just playing games to a gamer I can blast past stages 1-6 without getting hit one the final stages still gives me issues Also there is a Game+ mode after you beat it the first time that ramps up the difficulty

I rented Metal Storm once in the summer of 91, largely because of its' feature in Nintendo Power earlier in the year. I thought it was a really cool and great looking game but was freaking hard. I never did end up renting it again largely because I bought a SNES right after it launched (I had been saving up ever since it was first announced in Nintendo Power!) and pretty much stopped renting NES games once I got my SNES.

Complaining about NES game difficulty is like complaining about team deathmatch in first person shooters. it isn't the universal negative you might think it is.

Meh, I tried to like this game, it kinda sucks. Ended up selling my copy recently alongside a couple other nes games to buy a Logitech racing wheel, much happier now haha.
