@beastmode89853 жыл бұрын
I used to get similar migraines. I can vouch for putting pressure on your eyes or temples is sometimes the only thing that will seem to ease the pain. I knew what he meant the first time I heard it, but always find it odd that most people take it literal. However, I guess if you've never had to deal with migraines, it wouldn't be obvious.
@blinkin3043 жыл бұрын
when i get migraines i feel like my head is overheating. i have to put ice in a cloth to cool my head down so the pain will stop or cool myself down in some major way. if the migraine is really bad and i have access to a smoothie, slushie, or something like that, i will purposefully induce brain freeze. there will be a couple of minutes of excruciating pain while the brain freeze and the migraine are fighting it out, and then they seem to cancel each other out and i feel much better. when i get migraines anything even slightly warm, like the body heat of another person, makes me nauseous.

About that "I push my fingers in to my eyes" part. It can be quite literal since there is a pressure point that can relieve temporarily bad headache. Also from Corey's mouth: "Did you ever get that headache that is just not going to go away, and you end up sticking your thumb and your middle fingers so far into your eyes just to stop the pain? It usually has to do with making a choice. you get to that point in everyday life that you have to make a decision that you may not want to, but your kind of pushed into making that decision."

About the pushing fingers in eyes thing, I sometimes do this when i got migraine, somehow some pressure helps with the pain. so pushing fingers in eyes being the only way to stop the ache might refer to migraines, idk tho.
@yashchigurupati16533 жыл бұрын
its weird because i actually got the idea to do that from this song so i guess so
@keithgraham85883 жыл бұрын
This is exactly where Corey got the lyrics from. He always used to get really bad migraines and the only thing that stopped the ache was pushing his fingers into his eyes
@dusanrepik57553 жыл бұрын
about the migraine - am not sure if it works or not but lately I watched a group of people climbing up the mt. kilimanjaro in 24 hours and what helped them to get out of the "headaches" was the breath exercies which they learned from Wim Hof. It took them (i dont know the numbers so dont take it like like this is the exact way) 20 minutes of deep breath exercise which took the "headache" away. If you ever gonna try it let me know if it helped (but first read something about wim hof breathing method). Anyway - i never studied the lyrics so I was always thinking that the pain which is going on is so big that the guy is willing to push his fingers into his eyes coz it will bring a physical pain which can replace the horrible pain in which he is not in control with. I might be very off of this topic tho.

I didn't used to know what Cory meant by "I push my fingers into my eyes, it's the only thing that slowly stops the ache", but now I think I do. I think he's literally talking about pushing his eyes in to relieve a headache. I'm sure the song is deeper than that, but now that one line seems meant to be taken literally, whereas before I thought it was metaphorical. I get migranes occasionally now, and one day I pushed on my eyes, not because of this song, but because it was as close as I could get to the source of the pain....and it really does help relieve some pain. I immediately thought of this song right after that. By pushing on your eyes it relieves pressure on the nerves back in your brain. It's probably not all that good for your eyes, especially done too often, but otherwise the pain in unbearable and nothing else seems to work.

This song and album will always hold a dear place in my heart. My brother introduced me to this band in elementary school and I was instantly into them, but they were still a little too heavy sometimes. Then when this album came out it was IMEDIATELY a hit to me. I would fall asleep listening to this album all the time and rocked it when I rode my bike around the town with my friends after school. You hear it a lot on movies, video games, and sport events as well. Slipknot is a little too deep in their topics, I agree. Not a fan of self harm type things.
