_Rin Rin Rin!_ 🦊🤘⏰ Doki Doki MORNING is where everything started, they got 11 and 12 yo when the group was created in 2010 with this song but the official MV (Edit version) was released a year later. The girls look so young i myself was thinking they got less than 10 yo when I met them with this song around that time. The backing band you saw here are hired actors called "baby-bones", you'll see them performing live during early shows until 2014, after that Kami Band took their places as a real band on stage. They're singing about waking up and going to school while worrying about make-up and usual girl stuff, this a metal song after all 🤘 There's an Air Dance version of this, with the girls dancing in front of the camera in this same room. There's also a funny commentary vid made by the girls telling us more details about the backstage on this song. You can enjoy the live version of this with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 and after Budokan 2014, they also performed this at Budokan 2021 celebrating their 10 years and even more recently they introduced the Metalverse era with this song performing and introducing some big surprise, you can find this clip live at Makuhari Messe 2023 at NLMetal, btw there's a channel called "Metalverse", they're releasing snippets of new tracks for this new group if you wanna check it out, so far sounds real good. I think live at Budokan 2014 Red and Black Night are the best full live show to start but Legend 1997 in 2013 is also a good one, later one of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at Wembley Arena and Tokyo Dome 2016 are a must, and of course Big Fox Festival 2017 last YuiMetal performance is another good one, after that Legend S 2017 is on another level but without one of the founder members, just enjoy the show whatever you pick or win in the pools. Haha, great reaction. Their very first song - recorded late October 2010 when Su and 12, Yui and Moa were both 11. This music video was recorded on a shoestring budget (look closely and you will see the white tape used to make the skeleton suits peeling) nearly a year later. Doki doki is onomatopoeic for a fast or excited heart beat. I suspect you may have guessed what the song is about ... it is about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with all her friends, so it covers all the usual death metal subjects like what lip gloss to wear, how to get her hair looking the best - you know the sort of thing. 😁🤘 There is a commentary video they did a couple of years later (they did them for the first 5 videos) where they talk about their memories of making the video. They were very proud of themselves for teaching the Babybones guys the choreo so they could do the dance moves with them in the video.

It's crazy how young they were when they did this. There is a behind the scenes look at the girls recording Doki Doki Morning from Oct 2010, even Su looked like a little kid back then, but Yui and Moa were ridiculously tiny.

The opening 30 seconds is like a mission statement by the band. The idol scene at the time was very cutesy, so they start out 8 bit and cutesy, then obliterate it with metal. This video spawned two new genres, kawaii metal and alt idol

Excellent reaction, thanks! 🤣 This was their first song, single, music video... first everything. This is how all started. And you are right, the music video was filmed on a low budget with borrowed and even improvised costumes (the "babybones" ones are made with white tape... seriously!). And again correct about the extreme juxtaposition of the cute vocals (and lyrics, and choreo, and the girls themselves...) with the heavy riffs. "DDM" may be considered poppy (and it actually is) but they were a sub-unit from a j-pop idol group, formed by girls between 10 and 15. So, in this context, it's actually crazy heavy. 😁 I can't understand the downvoting... those five angry people are zero fun. ➡🐸 Until next time! 🤘🦊

Before attending a BABYMETAL concert, I recommend listening to what is called the Trilogy of Light: Starlight, Shine, and Arcadia, in that order. They are all very beautiful songs and essential to the history of the band.

The lyrics to Doki Doki Morning are literally about waking up in the morning and being late/getting ready for school. Doki Doki is the Japanese term for the sound of a heart racing. It's supposed to refer to the feeling of excitement or nervousness. So it's completely age-appropriate for Babymetal's first song.

Awwwww this is where it all began, when the girls were 11 and 12 years old. The song is about waking up in the morning and being excited, getting ready for school and so on. Pretty relatable for young kids. They recorded the video on a shoestring budget and even had to borrow clothes from class mates. Funny enough they played the song during their live show at Makuhari Messe in January this year and it is still great, especially with Su pulling off that cutsie voice at 25 now. So great! As others said there are plenty of great shows out there but I would recommend starting with the Legend 1997 show :)
