At 67 years old, I have never heard a song as beautiful song! My mother passed at 90 years old in November of 2023, and this song is full of emotions. It's a masterpiece!

I agree. Sorry to hear about the loss of your mum. My mum passed away in May and I so wish that this gem was available to play at her funeral. This is like the Finnish version of Halloween. We don`t do tricks nor ask for treats. In those dark times of the year we remember and honor our loved ones who are no longer with us. We lit the candels in the lanters at their graves. Tuomas has got that feeling in this song. Love it.

This song is written by Tuomas, as a ode to hes Father that passed away in 2021, Floor sings absolute beautiful on this, and Troy hoining at end, perfect!! I lost my Father 6 years ago, and my mother 5 years ago, listening to this, will bring me memories of them, and a song of sadness, beauty and hope at same time, its a song i would consider a masterpiece, love it!!

I can only think of one other person with this amount of talent....and that is "Sir Elton John!" The two of them are in rarified air! Just when you think that Floor and Tuomas have reached every part of you "Lanternlight" comes along. I'm 58 years old and turn to jelly each and every time I hear it. The album "Yesterwynde" as a cohesive collection of songs gets better and better with each and every listen with the three early single releases as great as they are not getting in to my top 5... that's how good this album is in my opinion. For me its the best work that this phenomenal band has conceived and produced to date. Thank you John. 🙏😊👍❤️

Pure Floor. I love this song. Btw, this song was Floor's pick for a single, it made her cry when she first heard it (I had the same reaction to this song, it's so touching). Tuomas lost his father a few years ago and he wrote this song out of that emotion. The message is to enjoy life, as it's beautiful and should be celebrated instead of grieved when it ends.

check out the interview with Floor on the Charismatic Voice. They talk about this song and how the first take for her was basically just her crying, and the band has gotten used to that. Not to mention that she recorded the whole album in 6 days, 6 weeks after giving birth...

From what I've heard and read, this song is about the love we feel for those who have passed on, and how we keep ahold of the good memories and experiences from their lives. Instead of grieving for those we have lost, this song helps us celebrate them and reassures us that they are still with us in the natural world around us. "I am the secret stream, moss beneath your feet"; "meltwater, scent of spring"; "petrichor: the timeless". Everywhere around us, they are still here with us, celebrating our lives, as well.

Starting deep and low... This sounds like her solo album, I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing. Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song, the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover. Mmm, the warmth of her voice. Reminiscences, love of the souls that have gone before. Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father. The pocket watch to wind... The old style film projector, a "Magic Lantern". The old flickering movies, like memories. Floor soaring away. Did you get the Tuomas déjà vu references? and again it´s Troy with the last words on a Nightwish album :) i love this album, i extremly love the songs in the 2nd half, this sounds so matured Nightwish ( yes they get older too ) and i am a listener from the 1st moment they dropped their debut. i don´t know why Nightwish has so many Audio Engineers in its fanbase, i can´t find anything bad about the mix. i love bass, i had to reduce it in my car to about 10% ;) and one sure thing is, once you heard the songs often enough so that your mind, your heart sings it internal and THEN you have the power of what should be how loud ! eat this, Audio Engineering folks !

If you want one from the album that is as you say heavy, fast and cinematic check out An Ocean of Strange Islands 😍 I garantee you’ll love it. This is the last song on the album by the way. This new album is number 3 in a triology. As I understand it, the first album was "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" from 2015, followed by "Human. :II: Nature." from 2020, and now, the last one: "Yesterwynde", released in 2024. I completely agree with your analysis. There is a lot of fuss about the mixing but i don't agree with it. These old school metal fans don't understand what Tuomas meant. it's all about balance. Balance between instruments and vocals. Despite the emotions that this beautiful , beautiful ballad evokes, according to Tuomas, the song is not meant to be sad. But because the theme is so universal and yet personal, it evokes a lot

Please, listen to Nightwish new album Yesterwynde from beginning from beginning to end in the order it has been recorded. This new album is a story about live and the beauty of it. Every song/lyrics/composition etc is connected but, also different. The reason why I like Nightwish and BTS because, everything they do is based on experience, books, poets etc. The album Yesterwynde is the third album of this trilogy. Please, look up the lyrics like you do for BTS. Tuomas and RM are both well read etc. On Nightwish KZbin channel there is also a documentary. Every episode is only a couple of minutes long maybe, you can put them together and watch it. I pre ordered Yesterwynde just like I do with BTS's albums. You were talking about Floor grawling in the song Yours an Empty Hope. Read the lyrics. A lot of Nightwish Army (almost the same name as ARMY from BTS except Nightwish has been around for close to 30 years) like me are looking at it that they are dishing the haters. Just like BTS and rappers do. The song has multiple layers. Thank you for reacting to this song. Can you also react to EPICA one day. The lead singer Simone Simons and Floor Jansen are friends and in the past Floor was a special guest at EPICA's anniversary concert. By the way Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a love song. personally I don't understand why they keep Troy singing he can't sing it's ok if you listen to him once in a while but putting his voice here at the end after that incredible and touching singing display from Floor is anticlimatic and I also think this is so touching not only for the writing but also because of Floor great ability to communicate emotions. this was written because of Tuomas father death I think the lanternlight represents the faint light of each life which is destined to be estinguished. Anyway this is the slowest and most melodic song on the new album you can watch An ocean of strange islands which is classic Nightwish.
