Back on 74 is a song by Jungle.....viral video that is SO FKN cool; this is a retake as the title suggests. BTW the idea for this RETAKE and all that it took to put together and find back up singers and the BASS PLAYER Kai, etc was completed WITHIN 10 DAYS. 10. fkn. days.😆😆 (and most miss the Nas shout out...with an awkward....pause) Great reaction man.

So many great things about this unexpected mashup, but what really caught me off guard, is that the song Back On 74 is a song from the band Jungle, and in his own style, he was able to incorporate the word jungle into this retake/mashup. Genius!!

This was another brilliant ReNtake. Just Ren doing Ren things. Crazy runs and harmonies, filthy bars to remind us that he is also still a cheeky boi, and that voice that’s perfect for Sting/The Police songs. Ren has music in his soul and pours so much soul into everything he does. We’re just lucky to witness it 🐰🕳️ Also I don’t think you have reacted to it yet, so from one metalhead to another, you should check out Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning.

He sings in his deep voice a few times, like in his song Ocean and also with his busking band, The big push, like in one verse in their cover of I shot the sheriff, the video where he is wearing the red suspenders, and in parts of his busking cover of This is a man's world, busking there with Sam Tompkins, and in more songs. He also sings up to an octave higher than the men's high C (C5), that is up to C6 in his strong falsetto, more common type of falsetto for him than the smokey falsetto voice he uses here. The most extreme high notes, can be whole phrases or even a verse, you can hear in some of his busking performances and videos with his band The big push and also when busking with Sam Tompkins. So he is doing this live.

I love this song, so I think I’ve watched about 30 reactors to get their take on it. You’re the only one that picked up on the “SOS”rasp/distortion in his voice that I initially noticed too and gave me this same feeling…. It’s the subtle little things that makes Ren so damn unique! I was so glad to see you react to this one. You didn't disappoint. This is my favorite live of his. It's like a smorgasbord of music and vocals. I'd love to see you react to the other new one he dropped 2 weeks before this one called Fred Again Mashup. Another live performance. Just Ren and his classical acoustic guitar. I think his low register in I shot the sheriff busking video is lower. You should definitely check it out, it’s the one which is a bit of a mash up so it’s “I shot the sheriff, road to Zion and hip hop” (I think the hip hop bit is right)

Absolutely love that you react to all my Kpop and J-rock, but still take time to listen to and love Ren just as much as I do! But seriously, this may be my favorite 'cover remix' Ren has ever done. His verse in the middle that he added blended so well with Jungle and The Police. It was perfect. The amount of different singing styles, textures and layers to this man's voice is just incredible. I genuinely don't think there's a genre he couldn't pull off (not that I want to see Ren doing country music anytime soon lol just saying he could!). I don't watch many music react KZbin channels, but honestly yours sticks out to me so much because of your taste in music, you connect to a lot of the exact same stuff I do. You should definitely check out the original of Back to 74 (by the group Jungle). I discovered them via Ren. But, as much as the original is awesome in its own right, and it is, as a musician, I think you're going to love seeing the journey that Ren took it on. The same holds true for his very recent Fred Again mashup, where he blends five EDM tracks into a longingly heartfelt master piece, IMNSHO.
