Fun fact, there's a live performance of this at maybe the AMA's? Grammy's? And our boys BTS were there in the crowd watching, surrounded by dancers and you can see security getting STRESSED at the closeness 😅. The snake is from her reputation era, and this is the entry of her lover era, so that's why the butterfly explosion. Last! She adopted that cat for real on the set, his name is Benjamin!

The cats in the video are all of her cats including the kitten he gives her when she's sitting on the unicorn. That kitten was actually brought into the video and they told her that he was actually up for adoption and Taylor adopted him and named him Benjamin (Benji for short) he's so big now. This is Taylor's most hated song and I will never understand why its so fun and upbeat and happy and she loved recording it and filming the video. She took out the spelling lyrics part because people were hating on it so badly and its really sad how much hate she got for it. The snake in the beginning is her saying goodbye to her reputation era that was before this and hello to the butterflies entering into her lover era. You can find the word lover in the unicorn scene that's the name of the album ME is from. That's just one of many easter eggs.

Taylor's really let her imagination out in this one, she wanted to make a song people could sing to feel good about themselves and recognise they're all awesome.

As I am a big Brendon Urie / Panic! at the Disco fan fun fact, as Brendon didn't want to miss out on working with Taylor or let her down, while filming this MV and while he was in the studio singing his parts of the song with her, he was very sick with a high fever. Hope him and the family are healthy & happy.

You just summarized how she felt in the relationship she was at the time of the recording of this video and what she wanted it to be. In my opinion, you nailed it! She was in a 6 year relationship and we know now, after the album Midnights and later The Tortured Poets Department that she felt like she was in a prison in that relationship, and we know that in order to please that guy, she had to go to extreme measures not to live her life because he was not comfortable with her level of fame. And I guess the fight scene and she closing the door is she showing us that in her personal life things weren't that great, but when she went out, when she was in public, she had this super happy persona to please her audience (another song about this is I Can Do It With a Broken Heart). But he was always stuck home refusing to participate in her public life (they were together for 6 years and he never showed up to an ward show to support her, for exemple). And like you said, I think she dreamed of him getting out of the house and going out happily with her in public, but he never did. She wanted with him what the guy of the MV did, but he preferred to be at home feeling his "bluest days" (he was known for being an "art bro", deep in his feelings, always publicly sad and tormented. But the reality is that he was just an unknown actor who thought too much of himself and his art...😅). I guess that's why now, with Travis, she has more confidence to just be living her life, because Travis is always there to support her, in private and publicly.

I am beside myself with sock and awe at your initial interpretation of this video-the transition from their fight to the song. I don’t know if you’re reading too much into, but it’s a perspective I never considered. I always took as “yeah, we fight but you love me anyway” kind of thing. 🤔 Love your videos!

You know I just noticed after 5 years I just realized the Easter Egg on why she was speaking French at the beginning. Easter Eggs galore because it was a first single of Lover before launch. And nobody knew it at the time is she was going to record the City of Lover TV special. Which took place in Paris. Nothing on this album mentions paris. Just the Special. Strange nobody even thought about that at the time.

I think producers just asked them what are all the elements you’d like in a video in your wildest imagination and that’s what we got. No sense to it. It’s like producers didn’t put limits bc there’s no real budget limit with Taylor.

Thank you for reacting to "Me!". I love it. I love the intent and the execution of all of it. The snake turning into butterflies represented transforming from the "Reputation" Era to her "Lover" Era. Pretty clever. Usually it's the same people who constantly post about hating the song. The video has over 429 million views so apparently lots of people love it.

Any work of art, literature or music invokes different reactions and each is valid. But yours is a good one for all men to take in. The snake turning into butterflies in the beginning and him saying “calm down” is an Easter egg to her you need to calm down song. She has a tattoo of snakes and butterflies on her back in that song and there’s also an Easter egg of her lover album which the song you need to calm down is on. When she’s on the unicorn in this video the background says lover.
