These are special Drummers Gloves ....what really is much more worth of a mention is her grip....it is a decent size Drumstick and Harupi is under 150cm tall all other Lovebites are slightly above that ...so anyway if you look at the stick.. she holds the end inside her palm....no Stick end can be seen...to gain maximum bounce drumsticks usually stick out 6cm behind the palm....so she has to hold the stick tighter then any other drummers because the leverage will always force it forward to slip out of her hand....the reason she holds it like this is to gain more power and hit harder.... Harupi will drum and entire Concert like this.....her finger strength must be immense

If your KZbin platform has auto translate, check near the end of this video, she explains that she changed her style to better form to stay relaxed to play this ‘much’, but she used to workout to hit harder. Even without translation, it’s a cool video from their dvd showing their gear before the recent dvd. @@timgove5337 i think that translate got twisted from...... workout to stay calm and in form to play this much and changed style to hit harder ...or similar....me being a drummer makes more sense....i will ask a japanese person when i find time....in the past Senri applied the same style but because she does more fusion jazz music it is never for such long periods...another tiny drummer named Junna does also use it at times....i think their teachers must be the same to more or less extend

Pentagrams, any figure with five points, means defense, protection. Upside down is the perverted version, rebels, ironically considered “offensive”. They chose it (album title) to reassure fans they would continue to fly the flag for classic metal. And yes, wolves have been their Eddie all along... Gloves help drummers, like stickem and anti blisters. My drummer used em this weekend (and I hope he gives em back!) Drummer Haruna has always used them, tho her real trademark is the star cymbal (has its own merch), and with Lovebites she went classy with matching color & frills. Good call on the microphone. Rock does somewhat depend on relatively eating the mic, but only for so voice is louder than stage volume, not to distort. Singer Asami was not really in bands per se, but did have big harmony/backup singer rock gigs, and did sortof lounge-soul solo work, she’s a pro, just new to thrash. Midori (translates to green), yes, blonde tan extrovert extremely-fast athletic highly-technical “hageshii” player (violent, intense, chaotic), you chose wisely... Miyako is piano/composer/more bluesy guitarist. Miho is Steve Harris (bass) impersonator, & founding visionary, composer, metal: historian, dj, & T-shirt collector. And they’re all photogenic, doesn’t hurt!

As a practicing pagan, that’s mostly correct! Pentagrams are the five pointed star. When in a circle, it’s a pentacle. The 5 points in paganism represent an element (which I know the girls’ version doesn’t, just expanding on the info given!); air, earth, water, fire, and aether (spirit). The circle represents the protecting, not just the pentagram alone. The pentagram just holds the elements and shows how they all incorporate each other.

Lovebites are formed 2016 year in Tokyo from ex Destrose band members Miho the bassist and composer and Haruna the drummer the other members are Asami the vocalist and songwriter, Midori the lead guitarist and backing vocals with the blonde hair, and Miyako the other lead guitarist and pianist and composer with the black hair. Lovebites are the winners of 2018 year in category for best new metal band. Also their last album Electric pentagram is nominated for one of the best 20 metal albums for 2020 year.

Yes, the symbols are wolves, 5 of them, all the same yet different (colors). The pentagram is 5 points each one representing a band member. This is "Five of a Kind" symbolism. The lyrics to "When Destines Align" support this theme.

Drummer Haruka's only 145cm tall. Her palm is about the size of a child. I think she wears gloves with strong grip to support her weak grip. Btw, she usually wears very feminine clothes and doesn't look like a member of a metal band. She's definitely the smallest and cutest metal drummer in the world :)

Great reaction, including the rant*. I am realizing more and more that, for those already embracing "metal" a good introduction to LOVEBITES is just how they start this show, POWER right up front with Thunder Vengeance, so I'd suggest "Holy War" as soon as possible (longer solos into harmony-solo, great vocal) to begin to get the idea of what the BEGINNING of 19 songs, an hour and 40 minutes of LOVEBITES is like... It was good to see your enjoyment which seemed, to some extent, an acknowledgement of their uniqueness and excellence. Thanks for promoting LOVEBITES. *(as a former "sound guy" ti makes me anxious to see the cupping done. I always expect to hear feedback any second.)

I still say, HOLY WAR ASAP. or even start again, Thunder Vengeance > Holy War. A ten-minute onslaught! They go a bit upbeat rock after that with Don't Bite The Dust. (More "Band-Maid-ish") I had to put that in parenthesis to 'hide' it from the deeply-devoted favoring either band!

@@DavidMISAMISAMISACook Yes, all in good fun. Yesterday 'reactor' Makoto reviewed an "Evolution" of Miku Kobato for her birthday. [ kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZzdg6iXq9ZrhbM ] It shows Band-Maid from origins to present-day, mostly with fan-filmed segments that were easier to watch (for me) than the pro-shot quick-cuts on a dark stage. Although the sound quality was poor, the performances and music itself was excellent. The 'history' was quite 'moving' and very enjoyable. I prefer watching the BAND to watching a video technician see how many camera views they can switch between in one guitar solo. LOVEBITES is better, but still... (I digress). I'll have to check out Band-Maid's lyrics ... (sh*t! I'm probably REALLY in 'trouble' now...)

Another thing about Haruna and drummers in general. when I took my first drum lessons (I was 6? 7?) one of the things I noticed with drummers, is that you will begin to form calluses because of how much bounce and vibration the sense of touch in your hands and fingers take from hitting the drums with the sticks. That can take a toll on your sense of touch and grip, depending on how fast and hard you play. it's similar to how hard your fingers around the nails get when bending strings on a guitar (I'm a guitarist as well). Wearing gloves like Haruna does not only saves the hand and sense of touch in your hand from the beating you're taking from the sticks, but also helps the grip. Last thing a drummer needs is to drop or lose a stick because they can't feel the stick in their hands anymore..

Greetings from Bonnie Scotland. Asami was originally an R&B singer, she can also play piano, Miho(band leader) on bass formed her style on Steve Harris(Maiden), Miyako was a classical pianist from the age of 3, took up guitar at 18, she can also play bass & drums and writes most of the music, Midori only started playing guitar at the age of 20 and can shred with the best, was previously in bands Gekijo & METALicce, Miho started the band in 2015 along with Haruna after Destrose broke up, they all have a background education in music and could be teachers. The've improved 10 fold since making their debut in 2016 and their talent is now on a different level. They acquired the services of engineering team Mikku Karmila & Mika Jussila known for their work with Nightwish. iirc they were the first all girl metal band to perform at Wacken open air in Germany 2018. Great reaction and insight to use of the mic. PS: They won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for best new band in 2018 and also toured with Dragonforce here in the UK in 2019.

Some history : Their 1st vid was Don't Bite The Dust in 2017, it hit youtube but ONLY spread through word of mouth amongst old school Power Metal fans., it was an email from brother within a week of it's release that brought me to them, it spread fast through the iron maiden, priest, dragon force type crowd as nothing SINCE those bands sounded like that genre authentically, Then came Shadow Maker which is what sealed their, and our, fates. It was a realization of what they were, and what they were going to be doing, for that genre. (Much the way Liliac has brought back Dio and Ozzy type old school Hard Metal, they are also a shocking WTF, a bunch of kids? Brining back old school Ozzy/DIo type metal? wow). I remember the big astonishment after Shadow Maker began to make the rounds that "Omg I can't believe REAL authentic power metal is being revived and saved by little Japanese girls". Yet there it was, and here we are at the end of 2020, with 5 albums under their belt and 2 live dvd/cds (Which i paid out the azz to get them all..lol). As one of those who was there from the beginning, I cannot tell you how happy that we, that original crowd, has been once we started seeing Metal reaction content makers "Find" them and allowing us to "relive" that first year of 2017-2018 when they were our little big secret and all the times we were literally crying over their talent and music. We knew, and spread them because we knew, metalheads were gonna flip out, like we did, and they have. Thanks for giving them the attention they deserve. (And yes, I've seen reactioners actually begin to CRY on video, especially with the song Epilogue. this one guy had to actually stop the video and compose himself he was gone in the tears..lmao)

Great story/background. Thanks for sharing it. I am a 'new devotee' as in June 2020 and can't stop telling everyone I see, all friends, family and the people in line at the grocery store! Coffee Shop customers and employees, uninvited group announcements "LOVEBITES! the band, not the songs" and now some tell me about being SPEECHLESS upon first experience, and they are an EXPERIENCE, especially when understanding their lyrics. The compositions and performances are 'off-the-charts' and, yes, getting better and better, if that's even possible. And their 'character' as individual people just makes me 'love' them even more... My first Japanese Metal album was Loudness - Live Loud Alive from '83, still have it. Amazing, and before they sang in English on Lightening Strikes.

I like these reaction videos when talking about the band, the music, the lyrics, what they do, what you don't like, even if you repeat the same thing over and over again with different words... but if the band is SO GOOD, what else could you say? Those outfits are probably hot 🥵 to wear with that stage lighting etc etc. the gloves probably prevent the drum sticks from slipping out of her hands if they get sweaty. I have been a big fan of music and music artist in China and Japan for more than 10 years. From their native instruments to singing to their other music talents over the years. The 70’s to the early 90’s was particularly great in Japan. Japanese City POP it is called. It grows on you.

I got into Lovebites about 8-9 months ago and haven't stopped listening since. They are obviously great musicians with a great vocalist. Their songwriting and lyrics are amazing too. I highly recommend listening to Break The Wall. I always suggest the live version because I think this is where Lovebites really shines.

haruna has always worn the gloves as far as i know. if you watch a couple videos from the band destrose - haruna and bassist miho's last completely kick ass metal band she still has them- 8 years ago.

Hello again, another great reaction. On your comment about the gloves, everything that Matt Urban said, I concur. I used to be a drummer and the main thing for me was when I sweat the sticks would slip out of my hand, so I used gloves to keep from slipping. Plus I got blisters very easy so I had to use protection. Again, great reaction, knew you would enjoy this song.

You've been hanging out on the same show for all your Lovebites reactions. You need to check out Under the Red Sky from 2019 Daughters of the Dawn DVD. It's an epic song. I read an interview with Miyako (guitarist with black hair) and she said they dress that way to show you don't have to sacrifice femininity to be heavy.

About pentagrams: The word "pentagram" only tells you it has 5 points ("penta" = five). Consider that in old times, you'd most likely draw them on the ground and there was no "up" or "down". It's usually said to represent the 5 elements with the fifth being "spirit". In the case of Lovebites with the 5 wolfs and all that it's supposed to represent the band members. Also see how this whole thing is titled "Five of a kind". About drummers and gloves: there are actual drumming gloves that some drummers like to use. They also provide a bit of grip I think. also it seems that Haruna is using sticks that have a rubbery coating on the grip-end to provide more grip. About cupping the microphone: I agree. A lot of people do it because they don't know what they're doing and get more volume or a more "brutal" sound out of it. Some do use it for effect sometimes, though as it adds a lot of compression and so makes for a different sound.

I've seen some drummers wearing gloves while playing. Maybe it's just a preference, I don't know. I'm up for more Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus and Mary's Blood. For the super metal group it's missing only Yousei Teikoku.

They are my number one female metalband, followed by Band-Maid. The members are Miho - bass, Asami - vocals, Midori - guitar, Hurana - drums and Miyako guitar / piano. Another female Japanes metalband you should try is Aldious, try the song Dominator (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2qpe3aGqKl5nM0).

Great reaction. The drummer, Haruna, from what I've seen always wears some type of glove, usually ones that leave the fingers free (like golf or driving gloves). The white gloves in this song may have been part of the costume, which after this opening song, they removed the jackets. I'm not a drummer, but I'm just guessing that it's probably to improve grip and protect the skin.

Just for the record a pentagram is simply a five pointed star. If it is enclosed, as in this instance, in a circle it is a pentacle. I am always amused by Americans who think a pentagram is some sort of Satanic symbol. If it is then you're in big trouble. Take a look at the United States flag. It has fifty pentagrams on it... one for every state in the Union! I'm sure the good people of Delaware or Arkansas or North Dakota or wherever else won't appreciate somebody thinking that there's something devilish about them (unless of course they're metal heads!).

I wouldn't worry too much about the pentagram or as I call it a star polygon. It has been around since babylonian times and also seen as the 5 injuries of Christ. So, it does not matter which way the polygon is positioned it means nothing including the supernatural and as I suspect these women are not stupid hence the positioning of the star polygon 😉😎 As for your rant regarding the mic it would be foolish to narrow it to your generation. Even now my father points this out at the age of 83, this is the man who introduced Black Sabbath to me in the 70s and never looked back. However he is super critical about singers on how they sing into the mic and god help any of them who appears to be eating it 😂!!!

@@TrintonTaylor "part of their outfit" maybe, but it seems she consistently wears gloves to play, but the jackets do come off after this song, so your curiosity is validated in that part of their "costumes" are just for the opening song, but the gloves stay. As a drummer, I would say they help with grip (and look cool!) She does spin her right stick, so they can't be too 'sticky' ... and it is the right that gets swung all around the kit/cymbals constantly, especially with all the little fills, breaks, transitions, etc. They do mix it up quite a bit in the progressions in each song.

How does a singer or band stay relevant and successful for years/decades..??? Most never make it, they fall out of favor being over shadowed by someone else. They had their time and fall into obscurity. The music industry is very competitive with both the music recording labels and artist. Age can play a factor as well. Some age well over the decades while others Fizzle out with age. We know from experiences of the past in the music industry cute and beautiful looses its appeal with age with some artist. Cute sells records for only so long. Artist have to look beyond that to keep relevant writing new music content that people can connect with. Some bands and artist can keep that momentum going for decades.Some cannot, that is why you see some bands and artist that were famous in their day playing in night clubs and small menus. The music business industry is a tough business often cut throat by the music labels.
