japan is the black hole, it will be a tough journey 😲😁😃 btw both play 7 strings guitars, both are perfectly trained and can play whatever they want, the bass player is great, the singer is special, the drummer is only the best female session drummer in the country who can do more than you think she is extremely versatile. @@zodijackyl I know Tamu's story, didn't want to come with too much information, just teased her to make it clear that she's not just anyone! 😃 with AKANE, TAMU, HARUNA, HANNA, JUNNA ........ the Japanese really hit the jackpot among female drummers! 😲

@@DavidKAnderson Yes, I know Senri, she has already been to Germany several times, she can play all styles, but her love is jazz fusion, that's why she is not perceived as strongly, I agree with you, probably the most complete drummer, precise, incredibly fast if she want, she already has a very distinctive style of her own. I've been following her for 2 years

Being 57-years old I got bored with music some years ago, maybe in the 1990 -2000's, it was all starting to sound the same to me, or it had been done before and better. Then 3 little girls in Tutu's smashed in to my life, they were so different. After a while I started to look around and see what else was in Japan, and was amazed by the talent and how it's the same music, but can be so different. Since then, I have flown out to Japan to watch bands, and try and watch as many that come to London as I can. The only thing that annoys me is, not being able to get in to the mosh pits, my body just can't take it any more :( Two more bands for you and not Japanese. Oiran demonstrates Mayu's growling. The drummer was also very heavily pregnant - but the way she hit those skins gave no clue she was almost due. They also do a great cover of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper". By the way, one of the characteristics of the plants of the genus Nemophila is its five petalled flower. The logo of the flower represents the five members.

Raitei means thunder. My fav song by them is moody but awesome recording of Life, apparently referring to drummer’s infant. They only have 4-5 originals yet, also have a variety of covers, and collabs with ShowYa’s Terada and drummer, plus drummer from PrincessPrincess. Saki (dark hair guit) is the Star (5 projects: Mary’s Blood, WGGC is world guitar girls collection, also Iron Bunny’s Shred Racers (with LisaX, Fuki, many WGGC girls), but I say check Amahiru - Hours). Drummer Tamu is the savant (piano, xylophone, composer, singer, bass). My new fav is blondish Hazuki on guit. Was in Disqualia with former Destrose members including phenomenal Narumi, and they did two other fillings gigs together, but I never gave her enough credit. But then chosen by Saki for this. And then find she’s working in LisaX Band, among the best prodigies in the world, Lisa’s third release on Sony records,was recorded while she was 14, backed by giants like Billy Sheehan (bass), but highlights are her band mates Hazuki and Rina, whose vocals are nonmetal, but amazing. Def not angry rock, but killer shred and impossible progressive ryhthms that they manage to make accessible kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqvWoqCkesZrb8U Don’t be negative reminds me... start your BabyMetal journey with “iijime dame zettai live sonisphere 2014”. They open the stage for a huge British metal festival at age 15 as complete unknowns, and precede this (closing) song with an anti bullying message. Great reaction and you described in your intro to the band name why they popped out the blue in the video :D (hint - common name of the flower). There is so much great music coming from Japan and not nearly enough time to listen to it all.

You can't be wrong with these ladies.👍 This is a side project for the most of these girls, the guitarist with denim skirt (Saki) is the lead guitarist in Mary's Blood, the other guitarist (Hazuki) has also a project with guitar virtuoso Li-sa-X , the drummer Tamu is involved in many other projects, including her new born baby.😆

The only thing I would worry about is Saki being spread too thin. With Nemophila, Mary's Blood, Amahiru ect., she's a busy lady. This is easily the best female metal band now, and they only have a handful of original songs. Can't wait for a full album

I don't know whether the term "supergroup" is still in use, but I think they qualify. Example: Cream was a supergroup of the late 1960s. All members were well known from other bands as excellent at what they did. Started by one of the early rock drummers to go to two floor basses, Ginger Baker (Keith Moon was another) asked Eric Clapton to do guitar, and Eric wanted Jack Bruce for bass guitar and primary vocals. They were a strong influence on a lot of musicians. So - already famed in their field, coming together in one project group to kick arse. Supergroup Nemophila.

Every string player in this band has "too many" strings. Guitars have 7, bass has 5, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA!

not trying to be rude, but it kind of blows my mind how native English speakers always automatically insist on adding a second "i" to the band name ;) I wonder why that is! Nemophila are one of my absolute favourites from Japan right now. I Love how they keep it heavy with less of a pop influence than most other bands! Can't wait to see/hear more of their original stuff :)

That's because "-philia" is a common Greek suffix in a lot of English words, and the brain just automatically sees an unfamiliar word as something familiar.

If you avoid sounding i's altogether with japanese translated into english all will be good there kind of silent .

Wow, first Mary's Blood now NEMOPHILA? You're on a roll with my favourite bands, lol. As you picked up on, SAKI, the dark-haired guitarist on the right, is from Mary's Blood. NEMOPHILA officially became a band late last year, although they had already performed as Mayu Session. RAITEI means 'thunder' or 'thunderclap', so when you said it looked like they were on a cloud it's probably exactly what they were aiming for. As well as OIRAN I'd highly recommend checking out their video for the song Life, which was filmed during their recent brilliant live stream. I turned off the sound and didn't listen to the whole song. I'm just saying my opinion. He doesn't listen to the last part of the coolest song. Not qualified to talk about this song by Nemophila.
