Best golden co knife made. I have the S90v cf version. It is in the permanent collection. Means it’s in the top 18 folders I’ve ever handled 😉. It’s a must have

I never thought I'd EDC this knife, but, yeah that's what I'm doing now. And now I bought another (in M4). I really love the knife.

The quality that will make this my dedicated EDC when I leave the house IS that it was designed for self defense. I know that doesn't concern you but I was so happy when I saw u recommend the Dlt exclusive version & said..I can have the best of both worlds (the qualities you always look for & the self defense aspect I needed). I'll definitely have other models and makes for collecting & use at home but this baby checked all the boxes for my martial arts background. Now I gotta find a gentleman knife and a "utility cutter" as well as the other categories you talk about...my journey, has begun (with the quality models)! Finally! Just so appreciative I found your Channel!

This is one of the best models in the lineup in my opinion. Maybe not out of pure practicality but cool factor and flip for sure. I would love to see a maxamet version and some others as well. I have a lot of different spydercos now and a lot of other really nice knives and I find myself carrying this one probably more than any other. The black on black version just looks so great and is so well built.

I just got this in about 4 hours before watching this! The mailman came bearing gifts(!). I'm loving your videos in general and was glad on seeing this that you like it too. I got it purely for functionality as an EDC- able blade and am so impressed with the cutting ability and the action/fidget factor. Hopefully as long as I take care with the tip this will stand up as a perfectly viable option over time for a great, slicey EDC knife. Quick question- I know that you love the Manix 2, and I was wondering if the action on the lightweight Manix 2 is as good as the original g10 version, and also is it as comfortable in hand? I ask because the lightweight is so much cheaper. If I remember correctly you are not a big FRN fan- but if I'm ok with that texture? Have you done a video with a quick side by side comparison I can watch? Maybe you could do a series of videos comparing gen 1 and gen 2 of different knives? Just an idea. Anyway, keep up the great work and I look forward to more videos on the way..
@metal_complex5 жыл бұрын
If you're ok with FRN, I'd imagine you'll be happy with the LW version. Idk about the action. I would guess it'd be similar. I dont have any comparison videos but thats definitely a good idea for the future! Thanks!

Action is fine, but the big downside is that you can’t take it apart because it has rivets instead of screw. I’m sure you’ve already moved forward, but if not, go for the g10 version

You should also check out the ronin 2. Basically the fixed blade version of the yo2. Wharncliffe blades are mainly designed for self defense. The blade really is not utility because of the very fine tip
@metal_complex5 жыл бұрын
Actually, wharncliffe blades were originally designed for woodworking (early 1800s.) So the utility design actually came first, and the self defense ideas only recently came about.
@miltonbates64252 жыл бұрын
Wharncliffe blades are not "designed for self-defense", the shape just happens to work best for hand-to-hand combat because of the flat edge (no loss of edge exposure from slashing angles) and the direction of the point in slashing and puncturing. Michael Janich (the designer of the Yojimbo) explains this in various interviews.
@anthonydentice81802 жыл бұрын
@@miltonbates6425 nicely said 👏 , ill add it gives you yhe entire strength to the end of the tip, where if you curve up to a point the leaverage is reduced with your pressure
@I_Might_B_Wrong5 жыл бұрын
I’ll never own one simply because Michael Janich is everything that’s wrong with the martial arts world.
@metal_complex5 жыл бұрын
I don't know who he is, but I'm not into self defense or martial arts at all. I just enjoy the design.
@I_Might_B_Wrong5 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with the design from a utility perspective. I actually like it myself. Michael Janich designed the knife for Spyderco and is a “knife fighting expert” that gives people training that could get them killed or imprisoned. Assuming the sales of these knives gives a partial profit to him I couldn’t buy it even though the design itself is admittedly quite nice.
@misterbaker97285 жыл бұрын
Really? I’ve met him had a decent conversation. Seems to get more bad press bc he’s a figure head so people looking to bash it are gonna use him to do it. Think about it like that I’m telling you truth. Sure is he a little overkill but that’s his job. Your name states that you might be open to new ideals
@I_Might_B_Wrong5 жыл бұрын
He teaches with dead patterns that don’t work. I’m sure he’s a really nice guy and not everything he teaches is useless but the way to deal with a knife is not to get into a knife fight or do a series of blocking moves. It’s to get away or to isolate the knife arm and stop the other hand from supporting it. There’s a huge difference between the dead patterns and dangerous material he teaches and the good stuff you could get from Shivworks for example. Check out the video of Shivworks training with Warrior Poet Society to get an idea for what won’t get you carved like a Thansgiving turkey. Again, I’m sure he’s a good guy but he is teaching stuff that’s not going to work and he’s making money off of it and it could get people killed.
