Lyrics: It’s so hard to let go You can hear me but I’m invisible But if you dig out your eyes, maybe pain will subside The worst that could happen is you never see me again But the worst is yet to come, my friend This path I walk is comforting But now I’m left to sing this song alone I’m fading faster now I left so long ago You never noticed I was gone Now that you don’t have eyes, maybe now you’ll realize Within your own head, you’re creating these lies For what it’s worth, you’re still beautiful But beauty lies within the eyes This path I walk is comforting But now I’m left to sing this song alone I’m fading faster now

Whitechapel, if you're paying attention just know your music saved my life and I can now see things clearly again and I love myself. I hope this message gives someone else in their lowest times, hope to survive through whatever they got going on.

Real Metal fans who are true to form, will respect this growth from Whitechapel. This particular bands evolution perfectly portrays that of a man who has seen horror and struggled with dealing with that horror in real life. Phil Bozeman's story is real. The feelings are real. This music is real. Yes, we would all most likely prefer the old Whitechapel, but folks, this is what true musicianship is all about. Pay attention and you will see how this man, this band, and this music has grown and matured in the depths of struggle. Through hate, love and pain. Don't worry, I don't think Whitechapel will ever part with their roots but don't turn your back on them because of this change in their music. This has been a wonderful adventure following this band since day one and we couldn't ask for more. Thank you Phil, for sharing your story. Thank you Whitechapel for all you've done. The Valley is a reference to the part of Hardin Valley (west of Knoxville, Tennessee) where vocalist Phil Bozeman grew up. Set against this backdrop, he approaches his subject matter unflinchingly, building upon everything that came before, making it clear that he has survived that which he was forced to endure and is not afraid to confront it. “Phil has been upfront in his lyrics in the past about hardships he endured in his life as a child, and I believe with this record we tried to paint a better picture of that,” says guitarist Alex Wade, who alongside his bandmates, stands 100% behind everything their vocalist has to say. “I feel our music is Phil’s release from his past, being able to get it out and speak about it, and hopefully anyone who hears it that may have gone through similar experiences can find some release in it as well.”

Never have I watched a music video that could accurately and appropriately depict the childhood I had with my mom. 26 years old and this left me in tears. It’s not remotely fair or right how many kids are experiencing this exact scenario, right now.

I know this is probably gonna sound childish but On the day my beloved dog was scheduled to be put down, I listened to this song with her just crying on the floor, her in my arms for the last time, this song means a lot to me and it's one of the few songs ever made to bring me to actual tears

I have the same thing for the five finger death punch gone away cover with my beloved kitten. Then afterwards, a beautiful song by ghost called life eternal came out and I felt her in my heart again. I feel you.

To me to lose my precious Chyna who fought for my survival against two wolves...and WON!! I would be in such a state that this song would be the only thing that could save me!!! Its that struggle grunge that arises inside of me like a swelling of a planet just before IMPLODING with THUNDROUS QUAKING, the other side of the universe would hear and feel it. even better, like when Neo swelled the walls of the hallway in the Matrix. That WOULD BE THE FORCE I WOULD FEEL, COMING DOWN UPON ME, IF I WERE TO LOSE MY MOTHER OR CHYNA. I JUST LOST MY GRANDMOTHER 2 YEARS AGO, at 105 years of age, that FIGHTER. AND I AM JUST NOW GREAVING. BECAUSE AN OLD FLAME TOOK ME DOWEN THROUGH SOME DARK PLACES AFTER USING ME TO HAVE AN AFFAIR. just as granny was dying, so I WAS GREAVING THaT SITUATION BEFORE SHE DIED AND JUST NOW GOT OVER THAT TO NOW GRRIEVE MY DEAREST GRANDMOTJHER. Sorry, not yelling, just emotionally speaking in CAPS. so yeah this song means wonderous love for its existence.

This song is a freaking masterpiece and it really does make me cry every single damn time. Both of my parents struggled so hard with drugs ever since I was born. My dad committed suicide soon after his birthday and I couldn't be there to hug him or say goodbye. I know I was the first to find that out, and my mom is back in prison for her recurring drug addictions. This song, combined with Bring Me Home, both hit REALLY close to home. No matter the length of time, wounds like seeing the ones you love suffer or losing someone you love will forever hurt. Because they leave scars behind. Cherish who and what you have, cuz you never know when you may lose what or who you love the most.

I love whitechapel and their brutality, but this song has now become one of my favorites, i can feel and hear the difficult honesty and emotion coming forth. I really feel they have matured and come a long way. I dont care if anyone hates about clean vocals, sometimes its just what a song needs. Cheers to whitechapel ! They did a wonderful job on the new album.

God bless you Phil. I won’t pretend to know the pain and heartache you’ve endured. Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. As someone in law enforcement, this video chokes me up. Your mother is a victim of a health crisis, and by proxy, you. I don’t want another soul to pass, or for another family to be broken in a single night. She’s resting now, and I’m sure she’s proud of you.

tbh if i listen to a song and enjoy it, that means i like the song. doesn’t matter what the genre is, if its good its good. also some of you need to realize that some bands just get tired of playing the same style over and over again and want to experiment with different genres and styles of music. just because a band with growls use clean vocals in their music doesn’t make them a pop band.

Between this and Bring Me home this is one of the few songs that just makes me weep uncontrollably. Bring me home reminds me of my uncle Neto, the Iroh to my Zuko but this makes me think of my substance abuse, seriously this album definitely had a hand in saving my life. @@stephant496 More like metal is trash now because of all the elitist trashlords who can't fathom variety in it. Imagine sounding the exact same for 20 years, that would most likely take your drive out of playing and lose a lot of fans. Music shouldn't stay stagnant, artist should strive to evolve.

It's that generic boyband sounding clean vocals that don't belong in any metal imo. The metal scene would benefit greatly from more mature sounding cleans like this.

Whitechapel has grown so much from the start and any "metal heads" who have a problem with a song with clean lyrics and such a profound meaning are plain ignorant. I wouldn't mind Phil singing an acoustic version. Mad respect for range in vocals
