@@MDK2_Radio Sodom in the sign of evil ep was way more heavy and brutal also, first bathory album, sentence of death by destruction and morbid tales by celtic frost were brutal as fuck too and they were all realesed in 84. I believe those bands were way more extreme and ahead of their time than slayer was.

When that came out after show no mercy I can tell you that this was " the real arrival of Slayer" . Show no mercy was great don't get me wrong but it was a very clean cut sounding album this on the other hand was something else

I actually do remember when this came out (I was in Junior High at the time). And as much as I liked this song, I personally felt that Haunting The Chapel was better, but that's just my opinion. But regardless, still one of my favorite Slayer songs.

Most of the early thrash bands sounds like Venom. If you didn't know this song you'd probably mistake it for Venom.

Yeah, they were pretty influential to thrash, black and death metal bands that came immediately after. Thrash was basically tightening up the Venom sound, while black was embracing the mess, and death sort of going in both directions, depending on the band.
