I love the old school stuff, but there is so much amazing metal out there, especially under the umbrella of progressive metal. What really keeps metal alive is how easy it is to incorporate other genres of music and the freedom to experiment. I'd say it's up there with Jazz and Classical when it comes to how broad of a scope it covers compositionally.

5 Months into the new year, this album stands as the album of the year for me. I do listen to many variety of metal & post-rock albums. So far, nothing comes close to this brilliant album. Every year , I discover a few new that I think will not be beaten. I am sure eventually I will find something else but I am at such a peak w/ DVNE now. Evertyhing in their music plays to my soul: guitars, drums, bass, keyboards and what an amazing vocals

I don't have enough words to describe how masterfully this sounds. Ending part was perfect with how the vocals, instruments were slowly quieting down and then came a peaceful part. The fact that the name of the album refferences the temple of Marduk, which is closely related to the Babel tower myth, and that the overall album theme is around elements from different mythologies makes my pp skyrocket. And of course, dvne fucking delivers with their music, as well.
@mktucker41183 жыл бұрын
Two different Babylonian civilizations. The old Hammurabi one would have been a lot closer to the tower of Babel than the new, Nebuchadnezzar empire would have, when Marduk would have been in their pantheon of gods.

@jaimeXDgo3 жыл бұрын
@@olavolavson5302 Well, I'm pretty noob myself, so almost all I know comes from wikipedia. But anyways, the name of this album, Etemen Ænka, is pretty much Etemenanki, which means "the temple of the foundation of heaven and earth", and it was a temple in old Babilonia dedicated to Marduk, one of the main deities of their pantheon. There was a time where the jewish people were enslaved by the govenor of Babilonia from that time. The jews were held prisioners for about 60 years in the city of Babilonia, and it is thought that they linked the myth of the Babel tower with the Etemenanki during this period. Now, what @mktucker41 said was that the myth of the Babel tower comes from much earlier than the edification of the Etemenanki, but, you know, tales told always get mixed one way or another.
