I just found out about Trevor today and I’ve just felt bummed ever since. Back in high school I just started getting into heavier music and an old friend exposed me to Nocturnal. It blew my mind how catchy and melodic that music could be. Everything about it just hooked it’s claws into me and I couldn’t get enough. Shannon became one of my favorite drummers, the guitar work was extremely memorable (to the point I could/can hum entire songs, even the solos. Lol) then there was the vocals. Trevor’s vocals were so unique to me and still to this day most vocalists pale in comparison to him according to my ears. From those deep growls to high pitch screams, the speed and how well he would enunciate his lyrics. I even love how he’d occasionally roll his “R’s”. Besides his screaming I was always amazed by how well put his lyrics were. So descriptive and catchy, he could paint a picture just using words. My friend that exposed me to BDM eventually got tired of me playing them every time we’d go somewhere haha! We even listened to their entire discography in chronological order on a road trip once. Lol Everything was BDM all the time. If I wasn’t listening to them I was thinking about them or looking at the latest interview with them. Eventually I got to see them play and come to find out it was one of Shannon’s last shows before he left. So I got to meet Shannon and Trevor, both were super nice to super nervous young me. Fast forward to Everblack, they were shooting the Goat of Departure music video and was there head banging with the Ape. Talked to Trevor after the show for a sec and took a picture with him. Then he proceeded to do the same thing with nearly everyone there. The man loved his fans. Well, I guess that’s enough venting for me. Time to listen to Nocturnal for the billionth time!

he was one of the very first vocalists who got me into doing extreme vocals. His highs always stood out for me , he has such a distinct sound out of all the other deathcore/death metal vocalists and his delivery, the way he makes the music 'creepier' is just amazing. His music would always give me some sort of unknown energy, he was the one who really made me push myself to become a better vocalist, motivated me to grow even though I knew I was horrible and isn't even close to his level - the energy I felt inside while screaming his songs was all I needed to move forward. It's really sorrowful to lose such a man. Rest in piece, Trevor. And even thought you're gone, your soul you've put into your music will always be in our hearts and carry on forever.

Same here in Dallas. I have seen them 4 times so far, and the crowd goes effing bonkers on cue. Even at Mayhem Fest 09. They played the Hot Topic stage in a damn parking lot. When I made it to the venue the temperature was already 104F. They played nearly two hours after I arrived, so it could have been several degrees hotter by then. Brutal show.

I guess I have a Black Dahlia story. We all do. It was probably back in 2008'ish in Ground Zero, Spartanburg, SC. I was with a buddy of mine, the main reason we went was he was doing photography work for "Decaying Face Down". That was the first time I saw White Chapel, live. My friend and I came to the decision to leave before The Black Dahlia Murder came on stage. His exact thought was "we better beat the traffic". And, I agreed. At that time, I didn't know or even understand what we walked away from. I still regret it. I keep kicking myself in the sack, because I never was apart of one of their live shows. And I was so close, ... so long ago. RIP Trevor. "You'll live on, eternally"

I remember watching them for the first time (Monterrey, Mexico) in 2008 if i recall correctly, a friend of mine received free tickets since he was an engineer at the venue and invited me, i was reluctant at first but he ended up convincing me. Boy, what a night, it was and will forever be one of the best concerts i've been to, and i didnt know a single song, i became a fan after that day. Trevor had such an energy and connection with his fans, he was the man, RIP Legend.
