Houston, Texas rappers of note: Geto Boys (group), Scarface (sometimes called your favorite rapper's favorite rapper), Bun B, UGK (group). If given the option, start with Scarface. A Google search would get you started since his catalogue is deep. Some of my personal favorites: (solo) my block never seen a man die, hand of the dead body, high powered, no problems, steer; (with the Geto Boys) g code, fist light of the day, Damn it feels good to be a gangsta, mind playin' tricks; (as a feature) sunshine to the rain (miri bin ari) hip hop (dj khaled), and anything with Jay Z.

Good show, I've liked your comments throughout the series, so thank you for that. Some suggestions for artists and tracks could be: Common - "Love is..." Gangstarr - "Zonin" Mobb Deep - "Up North Trip" In my opinion these are some of the best tracks in hiphop and tracks that draws inspiration from the 90's boom bap era (Mobb Deep was part of this era), jazz and jazzhop as well.

Hey RDO and Grimby, I've been watching your reaction videos to much joy. Thanks to the two of you to doing this series. I recommend these two songs for the purpose of musicality and the changing of beats. The first is Public Enemy- Welcome To The Terrordome. There are so many samples in this song, it's crazy. The second is Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth-They Reminisce Over Use You. It's a beautiful jazzy number with hard drums, and very retrospective, storytelling lyrics. These are different from anything other people have recommended. Enjoy!

You all should really do some reactions to some of Rakim's stuff in his prime (80s). It'll be listed under Eric B and Rakim (Eric B was the Dj, Rakim was the Mc). Rakim was a game changer. Without him, there's no Nas, Eminem, Wu Tang, Etc. Some songs by Eric and Rakim I'd recommend are: "Lyrics of Fury" , "Follow The Leader", "Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em", and "No Omega". Rakim introduced mutli-syllable rhymes, rhymes within rhymes, etc.

You guys have to listen to Outkast's Aquemini album! It was the most experimental hip hop album when it came out (1998). It really incorporated other genres of music into rap. Before that hip hop was mostly just beats made from old samples looped over & over with a kick & a snare & some bass added to it (except for Maybe the roots). Outkast took hip hop to outer space on Aquemini! Besides Illmatic I think it was the most influential album in rap history.

Love y'alls perspectives. There's a lot of artists though that I think would really shatter y'alls current perception of rap. One of the things I've heard yall mention quite a bit, this video included, is that you keep hearing the same ole dark subject matter brought up a lot. Check out artists like Chance The Rapper or J Cole and I think you'd really appreciate what they're talking about substantively On another note, There's also a lot of hip hop artists who actually take a lot of influence from Metal like Lil Peep, Flatbush Zombies and even Kanye West on his Yeezus album. The one thing I definitely hope to see from y'all in the future is reviews on newer artists. Aside from the Kendrick Lamar video, all your reviews have been songs that are all 20/30+ years old

Maybe start at Daydreaming or Dumb it Down, take a break by doing a few videos reacting to different artists, then come back to it. Give it a few months, then dive in.
