First 7 albums are the best.. I personally don't listen to any Maiden albums after Brave New World .

Judas Priest was my first metal band, enjoyed listening to this but see them much differently. I guess where they went more mainstream is where i enjoyed them the most. British Steel was my first cassette, went into the store to pick up "M- Pop Muzic" and Living After Midnight was playing, had to have it.. went full metal after.. I know this will really Bang some balls can almost imagine the boo's in the crowd, but Turbo might my favorite as far as I can tell most Preist fans don't like it.. but only as I was 19 when it came out it was the soundtrack to my youth. I do think we gravitate to the music that was the stuff that formed our music tastes. I kinda lost interest when Defenders came out (and still own all the releases but the newest one) , Much more metal but less Priest to me, all the albums before it was better IMHO. But we all like our own thing. very much enjoyed watching this and even heard a few things I didn't know.

Watching this video inspired me to go back and relisten to Maiden's entire discography, and holy smoke it's wild how different people's perspectives can be. I love No Prayer for the Dying (besides The Assassin, worst Maiden song ever) and would rank it higher than Powerslave (my least favorite). Powerslave is so overrated my God, I forgot how much I loathe the mid-secion of that album. The Duellists and Back in the Village are two of the worst Maiden songs, and Flash of the Blade and Losfer Words are slogs. And even though 2 Minutes is a lot of fun, I like other radio songs from Maiden better (i.e can i play with madness, flight of icarus, trooper, etc) Killers is also pretty low for me. The first Maiden album is a near flawless masterpiece and would be in my top 5 (were it not for the title track which is totally mediocre and a disappointing way to end an amazing album(. Agree about Quest for Fire on Piece of Mind, but I also think Sun and Steel sucks. The rest of the album is incredible.

Name a band that had an open hammer on riff, Metal Gods? Mix in Iconic vocals. Metal Gods is a quintessential metal song. Not weak. British Steel was NOT a commercial album whatsoever. Their popularity maturated over time, no real watershed moment. Living on MTV you could point to. British Steel commercial??? Where?

haha I love this!!! My favorite band is System of a Down. I found them during a dark time in my life (12yrs old and Serj's voice made me feel safe and badass and beautiful and vulnerable all at once. Plus my step dad hated them so it made em even cooler. In kindergarden I used to fake being asleep to watch the Enter Sandman video on MTV late at night knowing I would have nightmares (still terrified of snakes lol) but I just couldnt get away from that filthy angry sound coming off those strings! Metal has always been the music that stirred up a range of emotions for me. While I listen to and enjoy just about all music, I really havent listened to Kendrick long.Until about a month before the beef/ Like That dropped, I accidentally came across Lil Wayne & Kendrick song Mona Lisa and it peeked my curiosity. Its been a wild ride since!!! Im biracial and alot of my trauma that I think made certain things about metal feel so good, its trauma that came from alot of the things Kendrick raps about, He has made me think and really look at myself and how I choose to live . His lyrics can go from having me cracking up, to nervous for whoever hes sending shots to, then remind me that Im a mess and hard to love but still not getting walked on or victimized and I can make my pain and struggles part of my ancor or my fuel. I really hope to see yall open up to more of his work. Hes like no other artist Ive seen

There are plenty of Rap songs, particularly from the 80s and 90s, that don’t reference guns, drugs, etc. “A Tribe Called Quest” comes to mind.

You missed your opportunity to Love 'Solar Angels' on the oft criticized album 'Point of Entry'. AND, yes, I was all peace out when Turbo came out, til Painkiller. The 9 for Painkiller is a head scratcher. Metal Meltdown 'not bad', you are joking, it's EPIC. Can we thank Tim Ripper Owens for saving Priest, he brought energy and young fans to this band. And your are right, Rob's snobbishness regarding his absence, is just sad. Nortradamus is a Masterpiece, period.

The bar about Houston. Back in the days before all law enforcement was linked up, if you did something to catch a warrant in NYC, all you had to do was leave the state for a few of months until it blew over. Some went to FLA, some went to Houston, some of us, who were of Caribbean descent (which was A LOT of people in NYC) went as far as to go back to the Islands for several months until the case went cold. He said, "Catch a body, head for Houston", that's what he was talking about.. Nas was 17 when he penned this by the way.

Had to stop watching this. Guy on the left so dumb he's adorable. Mouthing off about Roger Bain being a bad producer. Yeah the guy that produced 1st Sabbath 1st Budgie & 1st Judas Priest lps is horrible...lol (That would be Andy Sneap) Here's a thought: Do a slight bit of research before making & posting a video. Rocka Rolla is a great lp. Sounds amazing to this day. It is not cookie cutter metal which Priest perfected later "Dying to meet you" Rob Halford voice still gives me chills. LISTEN TO BUDGIE DON'T remain ignorant. 😊
@MetalbyteMedia
@MetalbyteMedia Ай бұрын
So true! Bain certainly was producer on those stellar Sabbath and Budgie albums. Gave Priest a hard time though on Rocka Rolla and made decisions that diverged from the band's vision. Notably, he opted to omit fan favorites like "Tyrant," "Genocide," and "The Ripper" from the final tracklist. Additionally, Bain shortened the song "Caviar and Meths" from its original 10-minute length to a mere two-minute instrumental. Furthermore, he took charge of producing the unauthorized Judas Priest album, Hero, Hero. This album, not sanctioned by the band due to contractual complexities, featured remixed versions of tracks from Rocka Rolla. Criticism abounded for both of these Judas Priest releases, reflecting discontent with Bain's creative choices.

I think sometimes people don't put the right number for how they feel about an album. The one guy gave Redeemer an 8 but when he explained how he felt about the songs it would indicate a 6 at most.

Rocka Rolla (5/10) Sad Wings of Destiny (10/10) Sin After Sin (9/10) Stained Class (9.5/10) Hell Bent for Leather (9/10) British Steel (10/10) Point of Entry (7/10) Screaming for Vengeance (8.5/10) Defenders of The Faith (9.5/10) Turbo (8/10) Ram it Down (7.5/10) Painkiller (10/10) Angel of Retribution (6.5/10) Nostradamus (7.5/10) Redeemer of Souls (7.5/10) Firepower (8/10) Been a fan for many, many years. Still have yet to listen to the Tim Owens albums. I dunno, he's just not my thing. I started with Painkiller, and then went all the way back to the 70s albums. Sad Wings is forever my favorite, but British Steel is so good. Defenders is amazing and I like Turbo more than most seem to. I'm not huge on their most recent albums, but when they're good, they're really good (like Nostradamus, Visions, Judas Rising, Lochness, Redeemer of Souls, Spectre etc). Haven't fully listened to Invincible Shield yet, but Panic Attack, Serpent and the King and some of the other tracks are the best they've done since Painkiller. Like, they've absolutely recaptured the magic, and I already thought they were great on Firepower.

I am a Maiden apologist for literally every song except for The Angel and the Gambler. I will defend everything else, including Weekend Warrior, Mother Russia, The X Factor, all of it. I’d give every Maiden album at least a 7, with all but a handful of them being 10s.
