I'm so glad I found this channel. It's helped so much in learning what the hell I'm doing. I just began home recording late last year, and I've improved a ton from all the simple things I've learned from Joey and crew. You guys rock!!

The thing about videos like these, is that they validate certain mix decisions for me but also remind me to experiment and think for myself a bit as well. Amazing resource

My favorite way to control dynamics is lots and lots of pre production. IE: dissect the tune and find the spots where chords work vs single note layers etc. same goes with bass sometimes you need that little sub push to not lose the bottom end in certain parts. I find if you spend more time refining the production and arrangement of the song then the dynamics become somewhat self evident. Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is setting up a compressor on a guitar buss for example that has a complimentary tonal quality. Once you have that set the threshold to engage with the loudest portions and do your volume automation into the compressors input gain. Happy mixing 😎👍

@@crowdkillproductions. yes, my previous band is so influenced by Issues. even Issues have listened to our song and ask us to be their opening act, but it doesn't happened yet. still hope for that but the moment when issues is "broke", it broke my dream too. Issues is so influenced my life and career.

Hy Joey ✌️ i have a question: Can you make a video like this with 2 VST guitars? I am working with ample sound and when i have 2 guitars (1 Melodie and 1 rhythm guitar for example) it sounds very muddy. Mayby you can help us out 😎 thanks for all your great videos! Cheers, Ändie

Great video... I'd argue the example of bass vs guitar EQ range is more djent than metalcore. Really solid tips here, and they'll translate well to players who use digital modellers live (Fractal/Kemper/Neural etc).

Boi that guitar tone is sick! What IR are you using on guitars and which programmed bass?

Why do you say to roll off high-end on the guitar (on screen you roll it all the way down to 3 kHz)? But then, right after that the low-pass filter is gone and you're EQing the sides and the high-pass is still there. This is confusing.
@simonpvo2 Жыл бұрын
He is saying to roll off the highend of the BASS-guitar. Aggressive low pass on bass is pretty common when dealing with distorted tones.

@@simonpvo2Ah, thanks. I rewatched it and I must've missed that part where he said bass. Before, I was like "3 kHz low-pass on guitars? That's crazy!" 😂

Your tips are general and acceptable. But your content overall feels plasticky and inauthentic.
