Rory's vocals are god-tier. The new album is a tribute to Rory's dad, who recently died after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson's, so it's a lot softer than typical Dayseeker, but dear God, the emotions will hit you right in the heart. The tour with Bad Omens, Dayseeker, Make Them Suffer, and Thousand Below was the best live show I've ever seen.

Thanks to the algorithm for stumbling across your videos. For whatever reason i'm one of those folks that get a ton of joy out of watching other people go through the emotions of discovering incredible acts like this that I am into. It is sort of like the collection of feels when watching kids open their presents at Christmas. I'm also out of the scene, hanging up my trusty collection of 7 string Schecters after a strong run with metal / djent band Convex in 2015-2018. Hard to keep track of what new music is worthwhile now these days. I watch tons of reaction vidoes as a result, usually to have the music on in the background and occasionally tune in for people's takes. Really enjoyed this one, and will take any excuse to see somebody new hear that falsetto again for the first time. Nobody can pokerface their way through that first chorus. Keep up the videos lad - you've got a new subscriber from Australia 🤘

I try not to repeat myself in comments sections on different channels so it doesn't come off like I work off of a script but things you felt about the performance and mentioned means I have to break this out again(!)... Yes, Rory does amazing things vocally...those runs are stellar. The last vocal run/flourish towards the end is SUPREME-BEING level stuff. The stuff day dreams are made of... but what REALLY impresses me most is that these things never come off as showy. Showboating. Or grandstanding. These advanced vocal techniques are utilized in the name of emotional impact. It is great hearing great vocalists do cool things but personally I believe that if you want to do something amazing in a song you should build a song to support it and then the song NEEDS what you want to put in. So while I will enjoy good vocalists doing neat things...I LOVE when they are used to increase my understanding of the story the song tells and/or helps make me FEEL the exact way that the singer/lyricist felt when they sat down to pen that song.

Very memorising, his voice, man! Like, he has a voice that's traditionally fitted for R&B, and it's a style that really SHOULDN'T work for heavy music. But he found a way to make it work, especially the second chorus where he belts the high notes, and adds like a gritty voice, definite metal! You can feel the raw emotion in his voice, especially when Rory mentioned he has depression, and he's able to fight through that by writing the negative in his lyrics into an art. So yep, no doubt that it's a new favourite song of mine, and a new favourite band I'm gonna listen to now as well. 😁

I agree where Rory is a HUGE overall factor to the band but as a vocalist/musician even with the backing vocals and musicianship of the other members...just how they construct the music to match the emotional tone of the story Rory is telling in each song is about as important as what he does himself. I don't notice the backing vocals as much but their guitarists backing vocals in the Octane live version of Neon Graves are damned good and surprised me even though I'd heard the album version a couple thousand times before I watched it. I know what I mentioned above is already understood but it was just something I wanted to expand upon when you mentioned how important Rory is to what Dayseeker is. And as a musician if I have a singer that DAMNED amazing wanting to be in a band with me... I would totally be good with music fans looking at me as a backing piece to an extent because what I'd be backing is that incredible.
