Let's metal detect a tiny spot with some mind-blowing finds during one of my most memorable relic hunts made this year.
My expectations were very low (I made this hunt in August). This area has been hunted a lot due to an easy access to the forest, but for some reason this small oasis was either overlooked, or just poorly detected.
One or two French Napoleonic buttons are usually a fantastic result, but to find eight (obvious ones) feels exceptional. I'm not sure about this place. Maybe a group of Napoleon's soldiers stopped there for a few days to prepare for a battle, or they were just on their way to join another (bigger) group?
Maybe they were forced to stay there after a battle, carrying a wounded soldier? Who knows...
All the French buttons were made between 1790-1794.
If someone knows more about the button with the ("post") trumpet symbol, please let me know in the comment section.
It was an exciting hunt on a memorable day.
