Honestly, I was kind of expecting you to not like this one much. Like I said, every song on this album except The River is in Stu's words (I think) "an exercise in repetitive songwriting". That means every song (except The River) could've easily been only 3 or 4 minutes, but they just decided to make it 10 minutes 10 seconds, which is funny because The River is the only King Gizz song with an official radio version! It's not on streaming, but it exists! The whole album is really chill, and I'm gonna say every song is gonna give you that lullaby feeling. You also mentioned how this is one of thr most lofi things you've ever heard, but I'm letting you know now it's not even the most lofi King Gizz gets (lookin at you, 12 Bar Bruise title track). Next up, God Is In The Rhythm, represented by the top-left corner of the album cover (the bottom left was The River). This is my 2nd favorite on the album because my mom used to listen to Motown around my brother and I all the time, and this sort of has that kind of sound. It's still really repetitive, but it's nostalgic for me so I don't really care (that being said, I don't care even with nostalgia).

If you’re curious why they are so laid back on this, before this they did Mind Fuzz, two garage psych records, and a psych spaghetti western. It was super loud with a lot of yelling. When Stu pitched this album he said “I just want to not scream for a record”. Then out came Quarters and Paper mâché lol. This is them taking a break

For a large part of the audience that kind of Krautrock/jam influenced droning that you describe are highlight parts of tracks. I loooove some repitition done well in specific instances. It's a stylistic choice not a lack of musical ability, and Gizz does it well with small building changes and flourishes. No shame in not getting it though of course

Don't worry, it took me a year and a half to give any sort of shit about the other three songs on this album. Now I think this album is fantastic from start to finish. The thing about a gizzard album, is that they all become s tier eventually. You just have to find the right day to put it on. Also, when you said you're excited for the next song, I'm not sure anymore 🤷‍♂️ Like I said on the river video, this is a bowl packing album

Shepards tone in the beginning (can rise infinitely). Plus a really cool and on theme bass line. For the album cover: The River is bottom left. Infinite rise is top right. The next track is one of my favs

Yeah this one isn’t exactly peak Gizz. I think it would be a fine 3-4 minute song but it reeeally didn’t need to be 10 minutes long. It just kind of feels like filler, and yeah I’m not a fan of the random sound effects either. it’s like this was an attempt to make a jam track before they knew how to jam.

It's definitely the least popular tune on the album in general, but I prefer this to God is in the Rhythm

Probably the most boring track by them. The repetition is annoying and with random animal noises. It begs for a change for so long and never comes. Stretched just to meet the 10 min 10 sec mark for the sake of it. Don't feel bad for not liking it. I never skip tracks when I listen to albums but I've skipped this one after some minutes a few times.

I think their flaws show when they try to make “extended” songs. They do short ideas so well. But stuff like am I in heaven, rattlesnake, open water are long but not progressive. They nailed it with Change and Crumbling Castle and anything past 2017, but before then they didn’t know how to make a song longer without being boring. The river is the best at it in here I’d say

Hard disagree on Am I in Heaven, but I agree with most of your other examples. The most egregious to me were the extended mixes on The Silver Cord. That being said, I really like the last two tracks of Quarters and think their length is appropriate.

You may wonder why they put this song on the album, because if it's a joke, it's too long. On the other hand, there is probably no band that has not made such mistakes, so there is no reason to have any reservations in assessing the song. Probably only the most fanatical KG fans will claim that this song is not different in quality from the rest.
