This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. I just love how catchy it is. I know you've already checked out the studio version by the time you've read this, but I love how the studio version has a louder wah pedal, and the guitars just get a bit crunchier near the end. In the last song, the Venusian 1 spaceship is flying to Venus to escape Earth. In this song, Venus is at its perihelion, "perihelion" being the point in its orbit where it's closest to the sun. Since its so close to the sun, the ship has to fly even closer to the sun to land. The sun absorbs Venusian 1. Venusian 2 is up next, also a great track.

Have you ever thought about listening to these songs along with the lyrics? I think Spotify has the lyrics for each song.

Agreed, I know you’re not a big lyrics guy but having them up while playing with the song will at least help you with any misheard words and get a glimpse of the story going on in these songs

They're singing "peri-perihelion". They just say the first bit twice, 🤷‍♂I guess just for the flow of the song.

Seeing as no-one has mentioned it yet, the main riff from this is played again once at the end of the solo in Predator X (without the chugging, just the chords) Hope you have a good new year man! Sláinte!

Yeah man because King Gizz is the bomb so the first couple of times you listen to an album you think yeahhhh I dont know then you listen from Venusian 1 till the end and realise these tracks are hectosh then you listen all the way through again and then you get it and like them all. The first half is setting you up for the last 5 then you begin to understand the whole structure and vibe of the album as a whole listen. Something like that. But you know this. Also thats why Superbug is the longest and slowest song because you know the next 5 are coming. Whole album composition or something. Once you understand the storyline it adds to it as well and somehow I can still enjoy the album 100 listens later. I also find it interesting you like Gila Monster so much it stands out as a sad orphan in Petro. But I do think it has a similar role to break up MS to Witchcraft with Dragon which they believed was the peak of the album and the main characters development. Which I think is the central tool, eye dialates, latin bit. AlSO I remember reading somewhere not sure where that Stu always thought hed get into making music for movies which I find so interesting for how their albums are composed as packages. Every time I listen to this track, it reminds me of German metal from the early 90s. It's probably the vocals in the chorus and it doesn't bother me at all, because it's a great piece of metal. Now the joy of listening will increase with each song, because we have three cherries on the cake. That's why I recommend the live version of "Self Immolate" once again.

Every time I feel like throwing on this album I almost always start it at venusian 1 and play It all the way through from there. In my mind I'm just listening to one song. I do love the other songs but they give me a different vibe kinda.

I'd say that Perihelion, Venusian 2, and Hell are the best tracks in ITRN. There's always a love-hate relationship with the last track (won't elaborate, you gotta listen to it lmao).

Next track is Venusian 2, the version from their live album Chunky Shrapnel is in my opinion the best way to listen to the song! Stupid hard and stupid fast, if not then the studio version is the way to go
