You're probably going to want to do D Day/Tezeta Cranes planes/ Spider and me Sketches II/ dusk to dawn The book Journey to (s)hell/ rolling stoned Silhouette/ sketches III

Every frame is hand drawn with pencil in reference to "Sketches". Jason Galea actually put out a book year's ago that has every individual frame, but it's super hard to find now

Sketches is so underrated This is their best album imo And it's also a perfect blend of the sonic styles of both king gizzard and mild high club, I think most fans that get weirded out by this one is due to not being used to mild high club's sound

The cymbal thing your talking about is actualy a thing drumers talk about. It's called stick definition and its "how much of the stick your can hear". And there is a lot in this recording and i realy like it :)

Welcome to sketches! Definitely one of their most controversial albums. Some people love it, some people consider it one of their worst albums, saying it sounds like an elevator music. However, for the musically minded there is a lot to like. Interesting time signatures, surprising chord changes, and lots of experimental sounds. I’m curious to see what you think about it

I’ll die on this hill…Sketches is one of their 5 best albums and it doesn’t get the respect it deserves from a lot of the fanbase. That said, it’s going to interesting to see how these reactions play out, because these songs really flow into each other pretty cohesively. Definitely meant to be listened to as a whole, I think.

I love to put in this album while working. It’s calm enough to just have in the background. When I do actively listen to it, I have to listen from front to back. It just flows so well and even though I can listen passively while working, there are so many intricate parts that I can listen to while not working.

dude you were spittin at the end about the art/music parallels. i think if you keep that sort of perspective in mind, you'll get a lot out of this album. it's very much a "piece," with some really interesting techniques and ideas like you were talking about at the end. and once youve made videos on the whole thing, listening straight through it all elevates it to another whole level

These two tracks are a great opening to the album, especially Countdown. Just so you know, the music video for Countdown doesn't include the transition into the next track. This album is a full length collaboration with the band Mild High Club, making this that band's 3rd album, though they only contribute instrumental wise. Next up, D-Day / Tezeta. D-Day is a short microtonal track, the first of 3 microtonal tracks on this album, and Tezeta is a Joey song I'm pretty sure. Also, I just wanted to say I love hearing you talk about hanging out with your girl. My partner and I are very long distance, and it just makes me happy to hear you talking about that. Makes me wish she lived near me.

this album was named after two things: 1. Miles Davis’ Sketches of Spain (which was a major influence on the sound of the record) 2. Brunswick East, which is the street their recording studio is on

Brunswick East is the Melbourne suburb they live in or were living at the time.

this was also their first full collaboration with another artist, i.e. Mild High Club Leah Senior was featured heavily on MOTU but only provided spoken word vocals, Mild High Club contributes a ton of instrumentation and production here

"ZEN" album, couldn't have said it better. Both this and PDA sync up with my moods.

oh man, i always forget the music video doesn't do a transition lol. when you do your next reaction, listen to the album version of countdown beforehand so you get the album experience. as for your prediction that it'll be a zone out record, it is for me too, but in a good way. top 10 gizz for sure. immaculately crafted.

The idea to not do anything under 2 minutes by itself is smart, but I have 3 suggestions to add to that! Just do Brunswick pt2 and Lygon street together, do Journey to (S)Hell and Rolling stoned together (those are both instrumentals), and just loop Brunswick 3 in with Silhouette at the end.

Countdown is about the timer on han tyumi's universe killing bomb (title track in MOTU) and then he becomes the universe.

standouts on this album (in my opinion) are the spider and me, the book, you can be your silhouette, and the three title tracks.

It seems your cam is out focus 🙁 I like the instrumentation in Countdown but I'm not a fan of the way Stu sings in it. It's like he's exhaling a lot of air.
