King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have released a new song called Gila Monster. I reacted to King Gizzard once before on this channel and loved them however I do not understand them or what they're doing most of the time. However, we can still enjoy them regardless. Right? Let me know what you think of their metal music in the comments.
You can watch ‪@KingGizzardAndTheLizardWizard‬'s video here: • King Gizzard & The Liz...

This band blows my mind. Utterly diverse, overloaded with talent, great live. They're one of the very best bands of this era.

Sounds pretentious to say it but I genuinely think they're the closest thing that the 2010s has to Radiohead & The Beatles. Started out playing fairly generic of-the-era rock & then a couple albums in, for whatever reason (probably psychedelics and/or an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world), their minds cracked wide open & their sounds all progressed in astonishing ways. Imagine if John & Paul or Thom & Jonny were just starting off their careers a decade ago, their sensibilities would naturally be way more disparate because of how easy it is to sample so much diverse music. Gizz are a bit like the vanguards of infinite digital content, showing how a band can make the most of the attention deficit era we all find ourselves in.

FYI, they are not a thrash band, but they explore the sound. Also, they are a "pro- mother earth"? band. Theyre Gizzverse (theme throughout their albums) is about humans destroying earth, AI taking over, the horrible future path we are on, etc. A lot of their stuff is calm and collected, a lot is hard rock. Very diverse sounds and incredible musicianship.

At the last minute I decided to look for tickets and bought two of them for Monday night. That show was so outstanding that I bought a ticket for Tuesday night's show also. Easily two of the best concerts I've attended over 50 years of seeing rock bands in their Prime. All I've been doing for the last 2 weeks since those concerts is listening to them over and over again as well as some of the other concerts on this tour. The music is addictive. I don't know what they're putting in it but I'm totally hooked. The Monday night opener of Rattlesnake/Honey and then Shanghai was when I really went all in. I know absolutely nothing about music or musicianship. Maybe that's why I'm not confused about what KGLW are doing LOL I imagine sometime around the turn of the next century my grandson will be telling his grandchildren about the time his grandfather got to see King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Greetings from the sunny Guildford, mate! The KGLW Gila Monster KZbin video has entire lyrics in its description below. When using a reference headphones, it was easier for me to separate vocalists voices from the music. Watching in 4K helps overcome the KZbin video compression, where I could see, that everything except band members is CGI, what's more, the CGI is deliberately stylised on time ranging from 90s to 10s. The timeframe can be pinpoint by the use of a video post-processing filter, which emulates the digital video (DV), thus indicating a brink of a millenium dead on, as a peak of DV popularity. Cheers!

That last hit sounds like 11 beats in the meter. But could be wrong. Either way it is a great song and this is a great channel.

lyrically and in the video, the song is a back and forth between a story teller(?) and the gila monster itself, with the remaining four band members in the video playing a sort of wiccan role in summoning the gila monster. i’m sure i’m not entirely correct, but that’s the just as far as i know

Couldn't tell if the riding the horse part actually was CGI generated or not, eh? The monster summoning seemed tight, actually. That really happened.

I can't pretend to understand them either, but I really like some of their stuff. Also not being a musician, I don't usually try to understand much of music anyway, do I like this or not is about the depth of my analysis... I will give this new song a good listen, thanks for the heads up !

HAVE YOUR GUITAR TECH rewire a Strat styled guitar to: first position middle pickup, 2nd position middle & bridge PUs, 3rd position bridge PU, 4th position bridge & neck PUs & 5th position neck PU. Having the bridge & neck PUs going at the same time has a unique hi & lo tone from the single coil PUs.

11/8 is the time signature of that section. To work out ant time signature, first one must find the highest note value subdivision of this cycle, then you can count the beats within that cycle. In this case there are eleven eight beats. (Yes, their riff goes to 11.) Quarter notes don’t work as you discovered, so you halve them by counting twice as fast and you get a repetition of eleven eighth notes. Time signature 101 really nothing too crazy. Anyway, I think this art rock band who are obviously attempting an homage to the early thrash metal era with their tongues firmly in cheek, much like Dave Grohl’s Dream Widow EP, it’s all about recreating, an emotion, or a feeling and less to do with tunings time signatures and theory. Oh and yes that explains my extraordinary on the money Cowboy are playing in Melbourne earlier this year Ha! I serious note thanks for that great show and great experience.

Excellent! Love a bit of King Gizzard, they’re mental! In the best way of course! But the real question, Justin, is what do you think of Busted releasing a cover of MmmBop with Hanson? I need to see you react to that! Pretty please! 😁🙏🏻🥰

They always have the signature YUP. Literally all of them are amazing musicians and creative genuises. Im waiting for their ska album.
