What slot of people don't know about is the deep connection between the Punk Rock Scene and the Hip Hop Scene and the fact that back in the '70s and early '80s one of the few places that rap music would get played is at Punk Rock clubs

That's alright of course, but don't forget that the release of this song predates the existence of KZbin by 5 years ;) The song was released in 2000, while the video didn't get uploaded until 2009. So those 155 million views are just fans going back to it almost a decade after its release ;) I'm not sure how much this was played/how big this was in the US as I'm from The Netherlands, but here it got played every our on TV stations like MTV and national equivalents...

This song is on The Marshall Mathers Lp (2000). Ans yeah, he and Marylin Manson are friends and Eminem have a lot of rock influence too. You must react to Till I collapse from his 2002 The Eminem Show album and this song lyrically is probably his best, the sequence of mathematical syllable pattern of 8-7-7-5 in his last verse is just insane genius. After that, you can also check the analysis of till I collapse, just type "till I collapse breackdown analysis". Lose yourself is also really close to it lyrically speaking and the same youtuber did a breackdown analysis of lose yourself too.

I've always felt that metal and rap have a lot in common, including respect for craftsmanship. In metal it tends to be musicianship and instrumental skill, though lyricism is appreciated, while in rap lyricism is king, though delivery, flow, and beat selection are all respected. Both genres pay homage to the originals and the all-time greats, both genres are heavily international, both genres are countercultures with watered-down mainstream appeal, the list goes on. Metal and rap have more in common than not.

Manson is actually in the video for the song. They've performed this song live together. Also, he was talking about Manson getting blamed for the Columbine shootings. This song was on the MMLP which came out in 2000 and Columbine had just happened in 1999 so it was still recent at the time this album was released. Manson said he has been blamed for 36 school shootings. I remember watching the news live on columbine. I was only 11 at the time but they treated it like they did 9/11. What i mean is it got so much news coverage. I think the MEDIA airs these shootings live and talks about them for weeks and months at a time and basically glorifies them. So, naturally if a kid is suicidal and feels like they have nothing to lose they look at shooting up the school as a way to become famous. I did a lot of research on Columbine, it has to be the most famous shooting of all time.
