Welcome back to another episode of Metalheads react! Today we take on the WELLERMAN SEA SHANTY. This shanty has made the rounds and we would like to see what all the hype is about. We also check out several other shanty and pirate-related videos.

As a metalhead, i believe sea shanty's share a strong kinship to the likes of melodic swedish metal.. The harmonies and layers you could add to a single riff are basically infinite. All you need is a strong start and it's up to you what you do with you from there-on.

Unless you already know about it... may I introduce you to Celtic punk? It has a similar vibe... or power metal, which is basically the exact genre of music this cover vibes with in my humble opinion...

ive sung a few of these while drunk overseas in a bar somewhere. okinawa was one. a few others i dont recall. but the point of the songs wasnt just morale but also to coordinate work on the ship at a time when the sails were controlled by men with ropes.

The thing about Alestorm that also makes their music special is each song as with a sea shanty tells a story for example songs like Keelhauled and Captain Morgan's Revenge. The other thing I like they seem to be having fun too many bands don't seem to be having fun playing their music.

I would recommend listening to the trailer park boys, the kittyman shanty. It is entertaining and he has a deep voice. I would also suggest react to THE HU - Wolf Totem. It is a Mongolian band, but there voices is straight up metallic.
