Great comment. I thought the same thing watching the Glastonbury concert. Years ago Jagger was asked why they still played occasional club and theater dates and he answered they liked the intimacy and interaction with the audience and they could hear what they were playing so they could improvise and jam more. Since the 2000's, with advances in sound systems and monitors they've been able to, as you say, turn an entire stadium into a club date.

@@markrussell6370 I have a sax player friend in New Orleans who doesn't think much of Bobby Keys playing. He's a bit of a jazz snob mind you, and he's not impressed by the Bobby Keys-Clarence Clemons school of "stripper sax" (that's my designation btw). I understand where he's coming from, but actually I always kind of liked that sound - it's raw, simple, and powerful - and I thought both Bobby and Clarence did good work with their respective employers. But I can understand how a more schooled sax player might think there's not as much talent required to play that style as there is in good jazz playing. And I don't disagree with him, even tho it is indicative of a snobby attitude.
@markrussell63704 ай бұрын
@@brucemacmillan9581 and what iconic band does your friend play for?Have people all over the world enjoyed his sax playing for half a century?what is his name?What radio station can we hear him every day.?If he is more recognized than those two ,wow!Tell us where we can buy his music!He must sell billions!

A little water will always come to my eyes when I hear "Sweet Virginia" but let's be thankful that we had him as long as we did. Rest In Peace, Sweet Bobby, Rest In Peace. Know that you left in indelible mark in our hearts and on this big blue marble we live on and call Earth.

Ted Hackett Absolutely true, Ted. Bobby brought us the best sound we could ever ask for: Sweet Virginia, Brown Sugar, Live With Me, Can't You Hear Me Knocking... The best from the Stones is always attached to him; no doubt he left his mark in our hearts forever. We'll miss him with joy through his own work.
