You should be proud. Anders is just a brilliant vocalist even if his is not a style that critics will latch on to bc maybe he isn't TECHNICALLY a great singer per se. Why? Because he has a skill: he is able to convey a great sense of intensity. Doubts? Listen to live versions of songs like SYSTEM or BULLET RIDE or JOTUN...they will illustrate for you better than my words can.

Interesting to hear Anders say that he doesn't really like doing interviews. I have to say that, for my relationship with In Flames, it's almost shocking. To say that I had never seen him in an interview before "Meet your maker". How many years of interviews? Before I finally hear Anders talk to us? I didn't even know he had a solid Swedish accent! However, In Flames is a major metal band that I have been listening to for so long. The wait was worth it because I discovered that the singer of In Flames has a lot of class. World needs more people like Anders.

I'm a Reroute guy as well. The reason I was prepared for it? I had already been hooked by songs like Ordinary Story, coming (trackwise) on the heels of Embody the Invisible & just before Scorn. Differences like that help a person to be able to get on the bus, so to speak, with the band & take that journey with them.

Saw In Flames back in October 22, and I was lucky to be up front dead center. Anders gave me two fist bumps. Not all singers will do that, and I thought that was pretty freaking cool. They put on a killer show on top of it.

I also think the expectation of bands to release an album every year or every 2 years should be re worked because bands that get more time get more charge and energy to make a great album and less burned out.

As with bands who keep their initial sound that will bring an short term success to the core fans and such but, it will also cement your music in a specific time period, band that change their sound ever so slightly or often will become more resistant to time and their music will sort of become timeless in a way, Slayer is a good example of a band that kept their sound and went for it, in flames is a good example of a band that keeps evolving and in the long run it's more interesting to look at the variety and listen to in flames as a whole because it changes things up a bit but if you listen to the entirety of slayer it's basically just a really long album that sounds good but the same. And like Anders say you have to take the risk because you can't please everyone either.

As a in flames fan from the old days ,When Jesper left it was the end of the band, they went downhill for a long time, but this album deserves a lot of credit it is a banger,i the mask was ok had some bangers, but this album start to finish no filler whatsoever definately a return for in flames

I think a lot of people who listen to many different genres of metal have a specific expectation for all the metal they digest, and that probably screws up their idea of the art and the whole idea of “consuming” art is kinda messed up. Like what they make will never be enough, it’ll never be as good as “the first hit” the first time you heard em. That’s kinda like a mental mechanism, it’s not the band it’s YOU.

it's been my favorite band for more than 20 years, i love every album, but say this is their best line up in some way is a bad taste joke, this is just a 2 person business.

It's true though, no offense to Peter, Daniel or Jesper/Niclas but the skill is off the charts now compared to what they had before.

That was the feeling I had initially, until I saw footage of their recent shows. The band sounds tighter than they have in years, even compared to the classic lineup. They're doing things that they wouldn't have previously, including live backup vocals, playing songs closer to their original arrangements and paying attention to their classic material again. Chris Broderick is one of the most skilled musicians in this genre and I feel he's really taking the band to a new level. Of course I miss Jesper, Peter and Daniel, but they are doing excellent work these days.

Foregone is not going to be a classic by any stretch of the imagination. It's a generic album. It doesnt have any good qualities. Jester Race is a classic album, Colony is a calssic album. The only way Foregone could be a classic is if everything released after it is way worse. Which is a scary thought.

@@tbone8839 very glad that IF hasnt just spent their whole career occupying the same pocket (musically) as Colony & Jester Race. To me, if they HAD, they would be an incredibly biring band who were afraid to take any chances. sorry, I can't just take my SUBJECTIVE experience of a band & try to force-feed it to others as the only way to view a band. I could spend 500 words trying to convince you why I think you're wrong, but I never forget that music is a subjective experience. I just get bored very easily, especially when a band hits that lightning strike & then spends the rest of their careers chasing that same thing. That is what record labels do. I want change, incremental or otherwise, bc if not I get burned out. And outside of valid criticism of things like production quality or new members that just don't fit well, I can't get behind the whole "this album is trash because there's nothing good..." thing. especially when I CAN find any number of what I consider excellent songs beyond the albums you cited. Just because I love Jotun doesn't mean I can't also REALLY get into how System drops into ultra-intensity on the last chorus (esp. LIVE). I don't do the whole militant thing about this stuff & basically INSULT listeners who don't share my outlook (bc how could they like songs that I dislike unless they have terrible taste?). Why do some people get all "gatekeeper"-like in that way? Who knows, bc it is all SUBJECTIVE. What works for me probably won't work for you, & that's OK. Oh well, maybe not my business...sorry you seem closed off to anything IF has done since '99 or whatever. Enjoy your tightly governed world of music...as for me, I'll keep looking for songs I can & do enjoy, in every album. Amazingly, I keep finding them, even on albums I don't like overall. Cheers

@@ignoblesavage5559 Take chances? How is trying to capitalize on the metalcore scene taking any chances? They already know metalcore is the in thing, thats why they gravitated towards it. It's what the kids love, and they know it. That's not risk taking that's 50 year old men trying to stay relavent and make a buck.
