I met Jeff Hanneman once while I was working at a Best Buy. He came into the store for whatever. A co-worker of mine who knew I liked Slayer and had talked to him in the store before tells me "hey, that's Jeff Hanneman over there". I'm like stfu because it was just some dude in camo shorts, but I'm thinking yeah looks like him. So I go over there say hi, tell him I'm a big fan. Start listing off all the albums of theirs that I have like he didnt know they made 'em or something, just being an idiot. He listens to the whole thing, never looked or seemed impatient. I get done making an ass out of myself, and he says something like "Right on man, that's cool." and goes back to shopping. Watching the video, it seems like that sums him up pretty well.

I always thought jeff was the most bad ass dude in Slayer and the one I have the most in common with as far as personality goes and the fact that his birthday is one day after mine is pretty epic. I'll never forget it as long as I live but the day he died right before I found out I was at walmart in the beer aisle trying to decide what to drink that night and that 18 pack of Heineken bottles was nearly jumping off the damn shelf at me so I got that. I get home sit down and scrolled through facebook and came across something to the effect of "this is not a hoax legendary guitarist of Slayer Jeff Hanneman as passed away at age 49" I went into shock for a second, my girlfriend at the time asked me what was wrong as I ran up stairs to check my laptop because I didn't believe the phone. Man that's a day I'll never forget. R.I.P Jeff Hanneman.
