lenonbaby that’s very true. The OG mega drive and SNES ran roms :p I think you can argue that emulation isn’t perfect. Even the much lauded Mega Drive mini had some lag that not picky reviewers picked up on. My GPD XD runs these roms fine. I think at the price point this is. The presentation and game selection this is nice. And I think it’s a nicer way to enjoy these games, rather than downloading roms.

I agree with the sentiment... But let's be real for a moment, the eventual selling point of this machine will be good portable emulation for 8bit and 16bit games. That's why the creators put out that statement on their site. They know it. We know it. Pirates know it. But we can't flat out say it or else they would be sued into oblivion by Nintendo and all other companies in class action. Its noble of them to release these cartridge packs but come on. Its like PSP but with good emulators. Because that is all anyone ever did with the psp.
@Gggrrrrrrrr234 жыл бұрын
KeijiMaeda86 Your completely missing the point of this. There’s literally thousands of devices you can use to play roms on but you never really OWN them, your playing them illegally. It’s nice to actually own fully licensed physical copies and the cartridge format just adds to the nostalgia feeling. When you have access to hundreds of thousands of games you never really focus on the game your playing.... With something like this you can actually focus on the few games you’ve got with you and you own...

I’m really looking forward to the Evercade. I bought a black Evercade, which is a limited edition color available through Funstock. The black units are all sold out, but they do have an all-in bundle that should be mentioned. The all-in bundle includes all the current cartridges except the Technos cartridge, and at this time it retails for $198.01 through Funstock. Being a British site, Funstock prices everything in pounds, so the price will fluctuate quite a bit, but they do international shipping, so you can get the all-in bundle regardless of where you live. You also get a carrying case for buying the all-in bundle, which will cost the same amount as a cartridge if you decide you want one later. I’m glad you asked about the arcade versions, by the way. On the Facebook group they have noted that the Evercade can play arcade roms, but that they are sticking to console ports for now. They didn’t mention that it was because of aspect ratios, though. That’s really nice to know.

Yeah that's why I love my GPD XD+. Because I can play it on the go or plugged into my big TV through hdmi. So it perfectly complements my Switch. For all the games that haven't been re-released for Switch like the mega man games have, or probably won't ever get re-released for any console, I can emulate them and play them on the big TV. Like stuff like GBA games look amazing on a big TV, and I think this GPD thing costs less than the gameboy advance consolizer, but obviously does more cos it's basically an android phone with physical buttons so it can run any android emulator that exists. Warioland 4 looks gorgeous on a big TV. That game needs re-releasing on the switch but they don't port GBA games, it seems. Capcom are gonna be the first to do it when their mega man zx collection comes out, so I'll buy that. But there's so many great games that would be so much better with the high quality switch screen compared to the old GBA ones. But until then I've got this little fake 3DS thing for all the other thousands of games. The HDMI output really did sell it to me as the other handheld emulator devices don't seem to have that

Hi Jason. Thanks for the video. I knew about this handheld and was on the fence about it. Your video is very informative and looks to be a promising device. I'm still not sure if I should go for it. Question is: will they support this thing with more games in the future? Or will this go down the drain pretty quick if they don't sell enough in the first few months? I guess only time will tell. @@BrotherWells This must be a (mini-)sd card without the usual pin package/housing, the first 8 or 9 pins (same as (mini-)sd) are in use and the other pins are not populated. It looks like the pinout is in opposite direction of a SD-card, so the middle pin (pin 5 - left to right) is VCC. It is quite easy to figure out this pinout with a multimeter. The unused pins are there just for priority or aesthetic reasons or maybe future extensions. This is a very cheap way to make a priority format and very easy to format or 'program', 1 GB is enough to store many games. The question is however, what kind of partitions they use, I quess some linux partition(s) with directories for the games and the savestates. It is possible it is protected or encoded. The only way to be sure it is a SD-card is to figure out the pins, make an adapter and connect it to a computer.

I just downloaded the firmware update with the driver. I take a look at the driver and search the VID and PID and is a HTC Android device! 0x0BB4 0x0C01 HTC Corporation Dream / ADP1 / G1 / Magic / Tattoo / FP1. There is also a credits file that points to androidmtk website. The driver is an ADB driver. The firmware file starts with a RKFWf signature. So it is running a custom version of Android on an eMMC, the cartridge must be a SD card like I noticed before, probably ext-format or FAT-format. I think this device is very easy to hack.

As a Namco person myself, I absolutely love console ports of Namco games, especially on the NES, SNES, and Genesis, although they didn't include TurboGrafx-16 games such as Splatterhouse and Galaga '90. Another disappointment is that Blaze didn't release a Namco arcade cartridge. Not even sure why. Luckily, on September 24, 2021, Hamster Corporation (a Japanese video game publisher behind Nichibutsu games as well as a library of games from UPL, NMK, Video System and Allumer) came to the rescue, as they released tons and tons of Namco arcade titles onto their Arcade Archives collection, starting with Pac-Man and Xevious.

Yea, that's a bit of a bummer. The 16:9 screen leave it open for new developers to build "retro" style games in 16:9 format. I will not be playing the games stretched. The black sidebars are a mild annoyance that I've gotten used to on handhelds.
@devilmikey004 жыл бұрын
I mean, does the 16:9 screen make any difference at all here? You aren't forced to stretch games and it defaults to 4:3. The 16:9 screen at least allows those who do want to stretch it to stretch it. I honestly don't see the problem. I'll agree that having console ports of arcade games is kind of lame but since it's all officially licence perhaps the cost was just too high or they couldn't the licencing for the arcade ones.
