I've always said that Nile is, at it's core, a doom metal band that plays death metal, if that makes any sense. They may play at a million miles an hour, but when they come to slower sections of songs, like Sarcophagus, or 4th Arra of Dagon, or Eat of the Dead, you can definitely hear the doom metal influences, not to say the least that "Unas" is essentially a love letter to Candlemass. I always look forward to the evil, doomy sections of their songs.

people (idiots) that scoff at this are insane...can you imagine the talent required to play this note for note at any given time...just the intricate nature of the uncommon keys in which these riffs are played is a miracle unto itself how this can be pulled from memory at will....wild

its nice to see Karl so happy in his element, talking about his music, and his band. It reminds me of Chris Adler, his face always lights up when he talks about LOG, and just metal music in general. VERY COOL VID!

@Killer9299 that's attributed to the fact that they tune in drop a. this is unbelievably amazing.
@devilevilwayz15 жыл бұрын
the way they pulse every 8 note gives a great sound
@wolfboii99914 жыл бұрын
@Killer9299 drop e on an 8 string is like tuning to drop e flat on a six string. you would actually have to raise the pitch of all the strings except for the last one. they're not sloppy, it's just that they over-distort and that doesn't mix well with their drop a tuning.
@Kuroi55512 жыл бұрын
the way they play their parts "slow" is the way i play my stuff most of the time. these guys are fast as hell, but i think alot of their riffs sound cooler played a bit slower. obviously these guys are the pro's and i'm just an amateur, so they know better than i do of course
@HabAnagarek8 жыл бұрын
Their tremolo riffs remind me of the last castle in Rygar. It's the "Egyptian" chord progression plus tremolo picking. Fuck yeah.

@mongobongoman why use 7 when you're not gonna use the high E string?... with 6 is enough to sound as brutal as they get, same thing with Cannibal Corpse, Pat uses a 7 but just to play the old stuff, with the regular A# stuff they use 6 and is more than enough.

I lost my fucking mind. these guys are the real deal, I cant play death metal or write it with it being in B standard with the Drop A. its just crazy.

not b, drop A: A E A D F# B its pretty well the "drop D" form of B Standard. and to metalhead7517: playing a seven changes a lot of the scale patterns and just adds confusion.

Finally somebody who understands me !! Even doe that the studio makes them sound better
@brandonbryson33179 жыл бұрын
A "practice amp" isn't an excuse for shit tone. I have a cheap solid state 15 watt amp that is easily cable of producing tones much better than this. Yeah, it doesn't sound like my 6505, but it doesn't sound absolutely terrible like this video does. Not to mention, these guys can easily afford to play on decent sounding practice amps. I'm guessing you aren't a guitarist. Either that, or you're one who doesn't really know what he's doing.

+Brandon Bryson you dont seem to sound better in your vids and definitely not playing 1/10 as good as they do, silence the envy and learn instead of criticising
@brandonbryson33178 жыл бұрын
LMAO Dude I forgot all about those vids. Those were literally only made as a quick demonstration for a guy that was filling in for me for an old band I was in. His email and phone couldn't receive files that big. Those vids were using a camera phone speaker and hardly showcase anything to do with my playing ability or tone. I do thank you, though, for reminding me to delete those. And that doesn't make the tone any less awful on these Nile videos.
