The shape is classic, as in I expect to see red and black Greek figures classical--love it. Colors, both the wood and resin, blend harmoniously but retain a natural vibe. Gorgeous!

Love this piece! Has the look of a terracotta pot, with the coloring and such. Also looks like it has some of the old creosote staining (the black), from when it was a telephone pole. Back when they picked trees for telephone poles, they were fast growing, tight grained trees. Made them strong, long lasting poles. Great piece!

My dad was born in 1930! Yes he will be 90 January 30th! I promise you that for the 80-90 years that pole has been standing there doing its job no one EVER thought of it as containing something beautiful inside! The resin rim was a beautiful save! It has a bit of a tortoise shell appearance and I think it is gorgeous!

Fantastic! The colors complement the wood itself just beautifully. I also love the way the shape turned out at the end. Maybe it was an accident, and unintentional, but it works, just wonderfully. You need to take a bow more often, for being able to bounce back so well after something goes haywire. I would like to add a thanks to the Angry Chipmunk mob - I am REALLY tired from having to pack because of an unexpected move, and I needed a good laugh.

20 years ago I got a 14 foot section of a cedar power pole that was about 18 inches diameter. The tree was cut in 1912 and the pole was put in the ground in 1918. I counted 256 growth rings, which means it started growing in the 1700s. i made a couple of bowls out of it, but they don't look as good as yours. There is a strong smell of creosote.
