Ohia is a very popular wood in Hawaii and grows everywhere there. They grow into enormous tropical trees with very twisty branches. Most commonly used for carving and turning. This particular piece is really nicely figured. Most Ohia I’ve seen is more blond and not very interesting. Great score and beautiful bowl! 🤙🏼

Doug!! Another video!! Looks like you're back! I love that bowl. I literally finished a cherry crotch piece the same way but with blue and white pigment, and created a live edge look to go with it.
