"Battery"! Please forgive that I completely butcher the name of the song in the viceo. I end up figuring it out, but be warned! Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think. Thank you so much!

I remember when it was released. This chick at school gave it to me (the album) for my 17th Birthday. This and Cirith Ungol’s One Foot In Hell. Had to sneak them into the house though. My Mother would have ripped my tiny pecker off if she knew I was listening to anything other than Stryper or Amy Grant. (Even Stryper was a stretch for her) Cheers!

This is song about being at a concert. It’s a tribute to where they started playing (battery street) and double meaning because a battery has a charge- they feed off the crowd and the crowd feeds off them. It’s the metaphor of being at a show. The line “can not kill the family” metallica calls their fans “the metallica family” this Al im is the first metal album placed in the library of congress for its musical and cultural significance. Every song is spectacular. Not the song from stranger things but it is on this album.

Loved your reaction Kathryn and loved how into the song you got. Welcome to METAL (Metallica is considered Thrash Metal, but to me I don't care about sub-genres, it's all METAL to me). Plenty of Metallica songs to discover as well as other bands. My current favorite band that I started listening to a couple years ago (after 30+ years of nothing new getting my attention) is Jinjer. Their song Pisces (live session) is a great kickoff to them. No research, just listen and enjoy (will probably want to pull up lyrics for them, subtitles don't work). Subbed. Can't wait to watch you experience more.

This song is about where they’re from/started playing metal - Battery Street in San Fran where all the metal clubs were. Metal community was, and still is, concidered to be one large family so the line “cannot kill the family battery is found in me” refers to this… you mess with one, you mess with everyone within that community. Overall, great reaction & I, along with most here, have to reccomend you do either the full album or at least the title song ‘Master of Puppets’ (about drugs, specifically cocaine) or even ‘Disposable Heroes’ (about war).

congratulations on discovering Metallica. "Welcome Home". you are now "Hardwired" to "Ride The Lightning" and experience the "Lux Æterna" of Metallica's career. "In The Eye Of The Beholder" the "One" way to "Cure" "The Unnamed Feeling" of needing more Metallica is to answer "The Call Of ktulu", like a "Moth Into The Flame", "Fuel" the "Metal Militia" and "Fight Fire With Fire" "Until It Sleeps", it will "Fade To Black", and only "The Memory Remains" "Through The Never". to ignore the feeling is "Unforgiven", becoming a "Thorn Within", leaving you an "Outlaw Torn" "All Nightmare Long" and "The Thing That Should Not Be" will consume and "Spit Out The Bone". It's "Sad But True". so, knowing "My Friend Of Misery" is the "Harvester Of Sorrow" and "For Whom The Bell Tolls" like "Creeping Death", a new fan can avoid the feeling of being "Trapped Under Ice" with no "Escape". Go ahead and "Hit The Lights", "Jump In The Fire" and "Carpe Diem, Baby". You will feel like the "Hero Of The Day" and not "King Nothing". And "Nothing Else Matters". Just don't get "Whiplash". "... And Justice For All"

Used this as my alarm clock song for years. My stereo (remember those?) had an alarm clock function and at 6:30am, the nylon stringed guitars would be the perfect prelude for a new day. This was my favourite thrash metal (not rock or heavy metal) album for years.

This is thrash metal. It's a heavier subgenre of Heavy Metal. Great reaction btw, very fun.

You will love Master of Puppets. That song is amazing. Especially live in Seattle 1989.
