Metallica Discography Ranking (Including 72 Seasons!)

1) Master of Puppets - love from start to finish 2) Metallica - same as above 3) …And Justice For All - the first Metallica album I heard in the year of its release so has great nostalgic value 4) Ride the Lightning - classic 80s metal with a few cheesy moments 5) Death Magnetic - love the long songs on this album and how they develop - too long 6) 72 Seasons - this has really grabbed me but the feeling may wear off - agree that it is too long 7) Hardwired to Self Destruct - some standout tracks but didn't grab me and I still struggle with it 8) Kill ‘Em All - know this album back to front and have grown tired of it 9) Load - too much filler but love The Outlaw Torn, Mama Said and When It Sleeps 10) Reload - too much filler only love Fuel 11) St Anger - nah!

Nice list. Here’s my controversial but honest list… 11. St. Anger 10. Death Magnetic 9. …And Justice For All 8. 72 Seasons 7. Hardwired 6. Ride The Lightning 5. Master Of Puppets 4. Kill ‘Em All 3. ReLoad 2. Metallica(Black Album) 1. Load Master Of Puppets was the first Metallica album I ever owned and I enjoyed it so much that I explored their discography. With that I discovered their 90’s mid tempo experimental period and completely fell in love. Classic 80’s Metallica is great, but I personally love 90’s mid tempo Metallica more…..also Jason on bass guitar.🤘🏻

Honestly really glad the appreciation for Hardwired album, I feel like it has been giving too much crap. 72 Seasons for me is better than HTSD, I just think it needs more listens to get into. Still very nice ranking

11) St.Anger -> I do have respect for the album because of what the band has gone through while making it, but it still doesn't sound good to me 10) Hardwired to Self Destruct -> I have seen many people liking this album but for me, it wasn't as enjoyable as others, I feel like some of the riffs and solos are really poorly done. There are some exceptions tho such as the title track or spit out the bone 9) 72 Seasons -> Kind of the same reason as for hardwired,i just think the tracks that I do enjoy are better as those I enjoy from Hardwired 8) Reload -> Personally I think its really underrated, while beeing far from my favourite album I enjoy a lot of songs here like Low Man's Lyric, Fuel, Where The Wild Things are and Fixxxer 7) Load -> Another underrated album, for me it has the edge compared to it's twin, I enjoy the emotional and more beatiful songwriting more than Reloads 6) Kill 'Em All -> Such a classic, raw energy and not giving a fuck about songwriting, just riffs to headbang to, I really like Seek&Destroy, Whiplash, Hit The Lights etc. because there are just raw energy 5) Death Magnetic -> The first time I was listening to it, i thought it wasn't too great, but when I was exploring it more, i really fell in love with it. Suicide And Redemption is one of my favourite Metallica tracks of all time and other songs like That Was Just Your LIfe or The End Of The LIne are really cool 4) The Black Album -> This is just quality at it's finest, the production is incredible, the songwriting is extremely nice and it features so many great tracks (I escpecially enjoy Wherevery I May Roam and My Freind Of Misery) 3) Master Of Puppets -> Now many people see this as the best Metallica album of all time and i can't blame anyone for it. This album is just a perfect thrash album and i love every single song of it. The only reason why its "only" third on my list, is because I enjoy the other two just slightly more 2) Ride The Lightning -> This Album really made me fall in love with Metallica, when I gave it my first listen I was blowen away. The title track is epic, Fade To Black is one of my favourite songs of all time Creeping Death is just iconic as fuck and even the "worst" songs on the abum Trapped Under Ice and Escape sound awsome. I would've almost put it at first place if it wasn't for... 1) ...And Justice For All -> My absoloute favourite Metallica album. I love every single song to death. You have critized it in your video and I can understand your points and definietly won't blame you for anything. This album has it's problems productionwise and I had to listen to Eye Of The Beholder or Harvester Of Sorrow for a bunch of times until they have grown on me. What really carries it for me are my favourite tracks tho: Blackened is just a masterpiece, Deyers Eve is a fantastic thrash song, To Live Is To Die is a great emotional instrumental and ...And Justice For All is my favourite Metallica song ever written (yea probably a really unpopular opinion but i dont care^^) So thats my list, I hope you didn't facepalm to often while reading through it. Really enjoyed your video, you have some cool opinions^^

I've not listened to every Metallica album all the way through, but for me I really liked Death Magnetic when it released. The older albums are a bit too rough for my tastes, with the exception of the already well known songs.
