James Hetflied: possibly the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time also James Hetfield: 0-0-0-0-0-0-0

Which imho shows how great musicians they are, taking simple ideas, patterns, or chords, and making stuff like this, and that includes kirk too! They could use the whole neck but kirk can use only harmonic minor or the blues scale and he could still compose better than a lot of players.

You can't say the same thing with fight fire with firer rythm during solo, that shit does really is 🔥
@wthinthecompassofman3 жыл бұрын
@@sstflm Well said! Also the rhythm element in thrash often gets overlooked. A thrash guitarist can dish out a great riff on a single note the same way a drummer can dish out a sick beat on a single drum.

When it comes to musical composition a lot of people forget that technicality matters very little. A few basic chords can make up a great song. Adding complex techniques and theory is just for finishing touches. My best advice as someone who splays the guitar is that if you want to write great music, you need to like it first and foremost. If you only play for the sake of technicality than the mucus can get lost and it no longer feels heartfelt and genuine. I love Metallica because it always feels like I’m listening to music, same with Korn and slipknot and soad. They all care more about the music than the technicality of the parts so they made music that was genuine and enjoyable to listen to. Tldr make music that you enjoy, not just music that’s hard to play.

In my mind, this is the best song of the band, becuase its progressive influence in the rhythm; it´s pretty complex and the changes of tempo give to the song a wealthy feature. A masterpiece by far.
@gagipro92 Жыл бұрын
it's also my favorite song, after my balad period and blues period, this one is a masterpiece and I cannot count how much time I spent loop listening those rythm changes.
@neegee822 жыл бұрын
I love how you "structure" / summarize the track ...incorporating extra rythm g./riffs to give the solo some context! - not simply playing the solo over a backingtrack. we (lazy) guitarists, see the effort!! :) 10/10

Such a melodic solo and very well composed. Kirk is so criminally underrated, he wrote some of the greatest solos in Metal Music.
