That makes me happy to hear. I need motivation too, just to pick up a guitar sometimes. I've been in a slump for a while.

The tone sounds identical! If you dont mind, how'd you get it to sound so close to the original?
@BretSnyderMusic3 күн бұрын
Thanks my man. I replaced the Tone Zone bridge pickup with a Bill and Becky L-500XL. There are three variations of the L-500XL and from what Dime's tech has said, Dime used all three depending on what was available at the time. That pickup is far more articulate and gives the bridge more bite. I was never happy with the Tone Zone for metal; it's more of smoother John Petrucci kind of overdrive. Nice for Dream Theater, but that bridge has no balls. Fed that thru a Line 6 Helix and did a lot of experimentation there. Ended up using Minataur overdrive > Fatality amp > 4x12 Orange/4x12 Moon for the left channel and 4x12 Moon/4x12 XXL V30 for right channel. Beyond that was just post EQ and stereo imaging.

@BretSnyderMusic Awesome, thanks for all the info. I really appreciate it! All that experimentation really paid off! Cheers

This video is good. There's nothing bad to say about it, but I'll say this. This video is just a testament of how good Dime was. Your solo didn't have the same feeling Dime has. I wish there was a video of Dime playing this solo.

WOAH...how are you doing the Intro Bit??? It sounds like a Wah AND a Whammy Pedal
@BretSnyderMusicАй бұрын
Good ear. That's exactly it. You can program a Helix to do both at the same time, but I'm not a fan of their wah sounds, so I did use two pedals at once on this one.
@expression1968Ай бұрын
@@BretSnyderMusic That's so cool dude! I love your videos and they make me wanna be a better guitar player so thanks!
@BretSnyderMusicАй бұрын
@@expression1968 I remember listening to the intro on a loop while I was driving trying to figure out how he played it and I came to the same conclusion you did. It was like a light bulb going off, that he used both a wah and whammy at the same time.
