@BretSnyderMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@gaspersoban6188 I went through 4 guitar instructors starting at age 12 for a few years. The first 3 were teaching me songs I had no interest in, so practicing was more of a chore than a hobby. It wasn't until 4th teacher - who had dreads down to his ass and shared an interest in heavy metal - that I found someone I could connect with. He was teaching me to play Pantera, despite me only having an acoustic electric guitar at the time, and joked about how painful it would be to play solos on a steel strung acoustic. But I didn't care, I loved what I was playing. After he was gone, I was spending most nights learning songs by ear. Nothing Else Matters is one of the first Metallica songs I tried learning by ear really early on, and I was attempting to play the intro entirely on the low E string. I couldn't understand how they were playing the notes so quickly and cleanly on that 1 string 😂

You are hard working talented guy. My advice. Make a band, create, experiment, work hard. Day after day. One day it all pays off. Ps. Did you know that metallica needed one whole year to make black album?

It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. The only issue I've had is with the volume pots. They need to be rewired or replaced as I'm unable to use them for volume swells without hearing static. That's a common problem though that I've had with older guitars.

It's called an EBow (electronic bow). It vibrates the string using a feedback loop for infinite sustain. It might surprise you to know that it's been around since the 70's.

Great work as always man. I’ve never actually seen an E-bow be used before so that was sick. How you been holding up during this covid stuff?
@BretSnyderMusic3 жыл бұрын
Not great. I'm falling apart. The EBow is an interesting little gadget, but in all of the years I've owned it, can only count a handful of times I was able to put it use. When I tried to recreate that part, it was the only tool I could think of that would get the job done. Regular amp feedback might also do it, but I would guess they used an EBow on the recording as well.

Thanks, Harver. I use a Panasonic GH5 usually with the f1.2 Nocticron lens, externally recorded to an Atomos Ninja V, encoded in ProRes. The other half is lighting. Trying to light a jet black guitar, despite it being reflective, is a pain.
