its crappy, be honest to yourself
@user-il4ul5js3v8 ай бұрын
@@dataman95 I wouldn't say it's crappy, it's just not as good metallica treats it. They drag this melody for like 2 mins without any extra development and the solo after it really doesn't fix anything like in fade to black where the solo after the harmony is absolutely amazing. Maybe if introduced a new melody during the harmony or idk kept harmonising the fuck out of the tracks, it would've been better. Maybe as a main riff, it could work but not as an "epic" war pigs outro wannabe. Take spit out the bone for example, the reason why it's so great is because A) the build up is actually good B) the melody is fucking epic as hell, C) it doesn't drag on endlessly d) the stop breathing part after that makes it even sweeter. Take suicide and redemption as well. It doesn't repeat the same melody over and over again(the really major sounding one), it develops into a new melodic harmony. That's the difference. Also we have dream no more which although not thaaat great but still has a decent build up at least and melody is good.

2 Huge misses for me....Leper Messiah. After the solo, wow, that is so groovy, great harmony with Lars double-kick in the background. And then Ride the Lightning, right after Kirk's epic solo is a pretty sweet harmony section. It's pretty basic, but fast as hell and sounds awesome in the context of the song.
@rubemortenson17247 ай бұрын
I feel like maybe you don't know what harmony means. The two specific spots you mentioned don't have a harmonized section. Harmony is when there is a lead guitar melody and two or more layered parts playing in major thirds or minor thirds or whatever the interval might be. The parts "harmonize" with each other. You're just talking about a couple riffs.
@ktgo44247 ай бұрын
@@rubemortenson1724 perhaps not. I took harmony to be when both guitars are playing the same melody, but not a riff. I'm not a music guy, so I'm just going off of what I have picked up. So, what would you call those sections, then? They aren't riffs, they aren't solos. I mean, in MOP, it's pretty obvious, but they are doing essentially the same thing, playing the same melody with each other, as they do on RTL section I mentioned, just not as fast.
@murk45526 ай бұрын
@rubemortenson1724 Kirk's last section was in major thirds, so that qualifies as "harmony".
