Yeah, I know. I'm so jealous not being able to go to such concerts. I wish I was born in 1968. Now, for me, we would have 1984, with a brand new Metallica's Kill 'Em All vinyl record, destroying my ears to it. And in 6 years, this would happen and I would be 23 so, I could buy tickets to Russia and go there. AC/DC, Metallica, Pantera, E.S.T. and The Black Crowes on stage! Plus, now that we would have 1984, heavy metal would be in fashion, because of New Wave Of British/American Heavy Metal. Plus, we would have real music. A confidence is that we now have New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal and we have very good brand new heavy metal bands.

I saw an interview with Lars where he said he missed James's cue after the per-planed pause.(you can see Lars jump up at the beginning of the pause) Lars missed the first symbol strike and caught the second on the way back down to get seated. (if you listen close you can hear it), he severely cut his hand and was concerned that he may not be able to finish the show. You can see at the end of the song he jumps up and quickly exits the stage to seek medical attention. He got bandaged up fast and powered through the rest of the show.

The soviet union had just collapsed. This was the first major rock show with western bands in Russia. I cant believe how hard this still fucks in 2022. There is so much metal I enjoy today from modern bands that have far more moving parts and way more complicated movements but the delivery and execution of this heavy shit right here is timeless. Simple yet THICCCCC. Goddamn what I wouldnt give to see Metallica live when they were at their pinnacle and the most feared band around. I'm nostalgic for an era of rock I wasnt even alive for.

the pause before All Have Said Their Prayers and the way the camera is panning acorss James's face as he says Infanticide while the green light shows up on his neck is such a powerful moment! this is the hardest performance of a Metallica song ever. the entire band looks menacing and the sound is punishing and alive. The footage of police beatings perfectly complement the aggression. RIP Metallica 1984-2000 (no other year matters).
