And if Mustain would not have been kicked out, probably they all will be dead by now. For anyone who has been in a band and has written original music - *this is not uncommon.* If you do not have a groove or anything to work off, remember that the riff is only in the mind of the writer. So, the timing could be the confusing issue and if you overthink it, you will cause yourself to fuck it up. It can even happen with simple 4 chord songs with a simple embellishment for the accent. I don't know how many times I have said "Wait, so it does that 1 time or 2 times? Ohhh, the second times is different, and the third time it is the same." Or something like that.
@elicero Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I used to play rhythm guitar in a band where the lead guitarist was insanely talented, one of a kind shredder and yet he could not record a simple clean arpeggio using a D chord with the sus4 pinky note. The timing was tricky. We (the band) actually had to step out of the room so he could lay down the part

I always thought that Metallica handled themselves professionally, writing the music and reading the corresponding sheet music, but I see that they handle themselves like me with my rock group in adolescence ..

Yep. Neither James nor Kirk know how to read music.

I love how at the end it shows the simplified version of the riff, like Kirk couldn’t learn it so they decided not to do it that way.

I was never a fan of Metallica, but I'll at least say this for them. You can't confuse them with any other band.

i've played enough music to know that musicians deserve every right to negotiate what they play. if they can't feel it, they can't really do it. sometimes you need to listen a few times to attain clarity on a piece, and sometimes it takes more. it's really beautiful how people can explain music to one another through example and otherwise.

Lars looking at kirk like "how hard can it be?"... Kirk thinking "shut up lars, you play the same loop on the entire album" 🤣

The note that is accented changes with every repeating of the lick, so you can see why it’s fucking with Kirk.

5/6 years ago I would laugh at this but now I understand what he was going through. Thing is, when you start recording for studios as a session player or as a bandmate it’s hard to understand another person’s idea and implement it as your own. You’re basically trying to recreate sth that’s not yours. It’s a lot of pressure and it can be easier on some days but sometimes you really have to dig deep into it in order to actually play it even if it’s sth as simple as this.

"Yeah but ya know? Kirk is a shredder...all this lame riffs are too lame for him he wants to shred!...". And then St. (shit) Anger came out. No even a single guitar solo. LOOOOOL

U can even see Kirk go a bit red he’s always had that inner child. I hate how Lars is looking at him that’s his bro. He obviously just had never played something like that. I love James so much but Kirk is overrall a better player. Then again who could imagine to sing and play riffs like James. Hell I don’t think James has not played a riff to perfection live. There all amazing I just wish it wasn’t always just James supporting Kirk it’s like Lars gets jealous just let them chill and jam and learn the riff together. All starring at him like he’s gotta do it right there and now.

Why is Bob Rock holding a guitar? There is literally no reason for him to be anywhere near a guitar.
