This was my favorite VHS for years. I remember that back when I was 14 or 15, I used to watch this show at least once a day. I memorized every move the band made, every song-it was surreal. Metallica is still the best band in the world to me.

Same here. I had a Fisher Cinema VHS with WiFi. I had it hooked up to a receiver with surround sound. The only VHS tape that made you feel like you were there. Metallica Forever.

I was born in 88 and I remember being 10 years old, just getting into music and my dad put this on VHS he originally bought back then and boom another metal head fan was born my dad got me into so many bands Motor Head, Black Sabbath, Deep purple, Pink Floyd, Dire Straights, Queen, Meat Loaf, Jimi Hendrix, Twisted Sister, misfits you name it writing this while I shed tears of great memories I had with him even though him and my mum had me late in their life in their late 30s early 40s they both passed away in 2013 both in their late 60s I was 25, I'm 36 now and it all just seems like yesterday god time goes fast I miss them a lot live life and enjoy it God bless 🥲Best band in the world ❤

Great energy and aggression here. And a relatively novel set list. The load songs required a lot from James vocals, quite high in his register which is difficult for him to maintain the quality on. His rasp had really deserted him around this time too which only made everything harder. Shortening Master of Puppets is sacrilegious in my opinion and unforgivable. And just weird things happening like playing unfinished songs like Fuel. Weird time man.

Also, opening the Setlist with a jam session is weird for them, instead of the usual pre-recorded Ecstasy Of Gold or something like that. Kill/Ride medley is relatively unique as well, as IIRC, it’s not much of a thing outside of this specific era. Bit of a shame really. Also, big agree on Puppets. No idea who thought shortening was ever a good idea. At all.

Worst period for Metallica, so emerged in the Hollywood type of scene, Jason was about through here, extremely addicted to booze and painkillers, Lars can't hide the white powder from pointed high nose and Kirk must have been on something to look and act like a Gay street walker. James was always awesome but definitely battling addiction here and I can see why his band is falling apart on identity alone. Thankfully they realized the error of their ways, regrouped and are still kicking ass today 🤟🏽♥️
