Just watched the documentary on Netflix, doesn’t mention Metallica played apart from one tiny comment from Kirk, must’ve been one of the positive parts of the festival

I was surprised by that too. I’m the HBO documentary from last year it does talk about how a fan went to the front for Metallica but died from exhaustion and hypothermia in the pit during their set. Very sad cause he was a life long fan.

I thought for sure it would've been a talking point. But seems like Korn and Bizkit incited the most frenzy, which makes sense I guess since they were the hot new biggest bands of the time. Metallica was now one of the remaining 80s bands with a bad rap after load/reload

The best voice James had in he's career in my opinion was that Live Shit Tour...those legendary Mexico Show in 93...best thing Metallica ever recorded that dosent include The God of Bass Metal himself , Cliff Burton .Jason was Killing it tho
@kooijbas
@kooijbas 2 жыл бұрын
That just shows how opinions can vary, because I consider this the low point. In the 80s and early 90s he was basically abusing his voice and he sounded awesome late 80s early 90s. Then he blew out his voice and basically had to relearn how to sing live. I feel that he's still searching and learning here and he sounds better now (2022) then in this recording. In fact the whole band is searching for a new identity here. Took them about 13 years (1995-2008).

@@m0nk3yl0v3rHow on earth do you reach the conclusion that Newsted "is" Metallica? He was in the band for their most commercial period but it's almost universally agreed their best work is 84 through 88 so he had a part in at most one of their OG great albums. He wasn't there for the return to form that was Death Magnetic and Hardwired. He arrived late and left early, and his poor treatment while wrong is absolutely proof that he *wasn't* Metallica, James and Lars were and at the time still Kirk. He was a cool live player but people say this way too much.

Ikr! Creeping Death was one of the highlights of this show, James smashing the drums with his hands, Lars playing in the right tempo, Jason's backing vocals, James and Jason singing together. Its a shame that it isn't included here.

Biggest disaster of the century. Huge mistake to have such aggressive bands all in a row. Never ever forget when you guys came on stage and they were calling for a major storm to pass thru while metallica was about to take stage. Never forget the rain wind and best the sound of metallica lighting up the sky nevr mind the lightning. Sitting their on whatever i was feeling at that moment. It was truly amazing.
