I love this DVD for the fact you can turn the symphony off and it is easily justifiable as one of Metallica's greatest, if not the greatest, performances of their career.

In my opinion S&M (specially first performace) is some kind of "Metallica: The best of"
@xxGSII2 жыл бұрын
1989 live Metallica was straight death metal live. Pure energy, faster, James’s voice was heavy….That will withstand time. Rate this #2
I honestly think the middle melody part has never ever been played so perfect since this performance. The bass line, passion and harmony is another level.
@가나다라마-y6w Жыл бұрын
I agree ur opinion 100%

The played more focused because of the orchestra being there, but they still had that big energy and played in an attacking fashion that made 'older' Metallica so fun to watch.
@Talendale2 жыл бұрын
It's almost as if having the symphony kicking in around them helped tighten their own sound here. And I agree, it's some of their best live work.
@ermonski2 жыл бұрын
Yeah they have to follow Michael Kamen's cues or the entire concert is a mess. This is a good challenge for them since for the first time in their live-playing career, someone is calling the shots. And that is Michael Kamen.

I had this DVD as a kid and spent my whole youth selecting to listen to band only. Wasn't til I was older that I realized the symphony does make these songs even more epic. But I just fucking love that raw perfection. This is easily my fave performance of this tune. I came here just after watching em play it in 86. 13 years will certainly perfect a performance. Fuck yeah dude. Symphonic metal up your ass.

I think they used some auto tune for the vocal a bit, u can hear it in the end of sad but true really well, but other parts when James sings u can also hear it, not complaining, actually the opposite, it makes his vocals sound glorious

ABSOLUTELY one of the best live albums ever made that rarely gets talked about. There's obviously a ton done in the studio to fix things (if you watch the performance, you'll see james take his hands off the guitar in parts, but the guitar on the left channel is playing, (light) auto-tune, etc. There's some thing out of sync with the audio and the video. Still....this concert is what made me a Metallica fan in late 1999 when I was 14/15. Been obsessed with them since. Different vibe, but anybody that wants to hear another epic live album that goes under the radar: "Live Jihad" by the MoistBoyz. It's a punk band started by one of the guys from Ween. That lyrics are goddamn hilarious and the singer has that GG Allin energy.

@Xp3r13nzzz2010 The only truth in that case, is: "The orchesta is not there" ok? but what happens here?, all we hear S & M, are used to escuhar the classics with sonfonica, and that happens to all those who for example, esuchamos "Ecstasy Of Gold", etc ... so, for there, maybe this explanation sounds reasonable. But oh! Indeed, the symphony, is there! lol

Fingers is harder for endurance by far. Pick is so much easier to keep time and keep going longer. Imo pick is easier but it all depends who you are and if u think its harder then maybe you need to try some Tortex triangles. They help me be more accurate due to their bigger size
