Speed isn't everything. It sounded weak compared to the way Kirk played it. Mustaine could shred, but shredding is a pretty basic skill that is rather easy to get good at with practice. Add some taps (or Alternate picking), arpeggios, bends, slides, hammer ons... it sounds like Dave is just speed picking and hitting random notes over and over, I see that from teenagers at guitar center all the time. This is very novice level playing, and only impresses people who can't play fast, or play at all. I will admit, the Mechanix solo is a little difficult to learn and play at first though.

Well when Mustaine , was in Metallica a lot of Mustaines Solos on these recordings were just demo. We will never Know, how they would of came out, if he Had not been removed from the band. So stop debating it. I think as shitty as it is For Mustaine , if he had not been kicked out we would not have Megadeth also, and his solos in Megadeth are great. Both of them are Good where they are.
