We always thought that recording were perfect yet, in isolation you could totally hear that some notes were not played that perfectly. It's actually reassuring, in a way, knowing that they are human after all.😊

Their most unique verse riff by a long shot. Playing a melody on one string with the string above open for the majority of a verse is nearly unheard of for Metallica. Very out of character and that’s what makes it special.
@EmilForsberg_GRYBO3 жыл бұрын
Well that's one of Kirk's riffs, he was allways more quirky and experimental although that means it didn't allways produce "Metallica quality" stuff, but this time it definitely did

Yes, they could have very easily just used the "root" notes of that riff, but playing it with that open chord behind it adds that unique note/tone

You could try checking the vocal tracks - because of the way Guitar Hero from which these are ripped, rhythm can get relegated to there. Also, some backing tracks using the GH stems have rhythm guitar - I've found the solo riff from Dyers Eve that way.

Am I the only one who thinks The Unforgiven is a little bit overrated? I love Metallica, but Unforgiven is just personally my least favorite of their ballad-y songs. For me the Metallica ballad Hierarchy goes 1. Fade to Black 2. One 3. Nothing Else Matters 4. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) 5. The Day that Never Comes 6. Unforgiven.

Interesting you put The Day That Never Comes above Unforgiven. What drives that hierarchy?
@hudsonbakke88364 жыл бұрын
@@jrc-kb3ug imo Day that Never Comes has a better main clean riff, some really catchy distorted riffs, a solo that is on par with Unforgiven (if maybe a bit less ballad-y), and I know I will be burned alive for saying this but honestly I think it has better production
@jrc-kb3ug4 жыл бұрын
@@hudsonbakke8836 Nah I totally see where you’re coming from. Death Magentic has a lot of amazing riffs but unfortunately suffers from the quality of production they’ve now adopted. Check out this video. If this song was on AJFA. Imo if this song was originally on AJFA (with James’s actual 80’s vocals,) I’d definitely put it over Unforgiven. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZOXpp2FrcuJo5o
