Joshua Pomales Nah, just because his voice is different doesn’t mean it still isn’t one of the best. Sure, his voice doesn’t have the gruff it used to, but if you see any concert of theirs now, he is magnificent on the softer and more harmonious parts of songs. Like One, Fade To Black, and the Day That Never Comes. His live singing never really fit the moods of those songs until the early 2000’s.

In the chorus @1:47, James Hetfield sings "Never B(e), never C(ee)" (sic), where "B" is on a C note, and "C" is on a B note. That's crafty songwriting for sure, on the same level as Liszt writing a fugue over B-A-C-H. For the musical theorists, the melody continues with the last note of each following phrase being G# (Won't *see*) and lastly A (Might have *Been*)

It can be easily heard throughout the entire song that Hetfield wore down his vocal cords badly, especially towards the end of second verse when he sings "the tired man they see no longer cares". If you pay attention, you'll notice that the following line "the old man then prepares' had to be added from another take after he recovered his voice enough to finish recording the entire second verse.
@armageddontv54576 жыл бұрын
NightRider U where there and watched how they did it? Ok impresive

Actually "the old man then prepares" is doubled and recorded through a different mic/signal chain. The double is obvious and its more "in your face" with less reverb.

To all the assholes out there who say James is overrated and can't sing, here's your proof also watch and listen to his vocals with S&M especially in "Bleeding me" and you'll see how good he is. Certainly James is no Layne Stanley or Steven Tyler but still, he can fucking sing and he's also a great guitar player. I just hate it when Rock fans start comparing band singers instead of enjoying their music, Mick Jagger is one of the worst singers in the history of music and yet he's a legend recognized by his own style. If it wasn't for these bands there will be no Rock n roll.

Noticing a few songs having instruments that Guitar Hero devs must've accidentally put in the "vocals" track instead of guitar or additional instruments. Strange.
@Alexis3687 жыл бұрын
This isn't so strange if we consider that they didn't have in mind that people would rip the tracks. The game was designed so that all tracks are played together.
@rahfu31747 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, but how did instruments get in the vocal tracks?
@Fireninja6937 жыл бұрын
Basically, depending on how it was ripped, you either get 4 tracks (Guitar, Bass, Drums and Vocals) or you get everything to have it's own track which can be anything from 5 to 10 tracks depending on the songs. When you get the 4 like this song for whatever reason the vocals get the extra instruments, 2nd guitars and rhythm guitars during solos.
@rahfu31747 жыл бұрын
***** But isn't there an Additional Instruments track in the games (World Tour and after)
@Fireninja6937 жыл бұрын
There are plenty out there, but like it said it depends how it's ripped, if it's ripped into 4 tracks then the vocal track gets the extra instruments. If it could be ripped into all individual tracks then literally everything gets a track, cymbals, bass drum, snares, lead and rhythm guitars, vocals, and any additional instruments would all get their own. But most of guitar hero: metallica is 4 tracks so that's why.
